Ο Δήμαρχος Λάρνακας κ. Ανδρέας Βύρας είχε την Τρίτη, 14 Ιουλίου 2026, συνάντηση με τον Συνδικαλιστικό Υπεύθυνο της Προοδευτικής Κίνησης Φοιτητών κ. Παναγιώτη Νεοκλέους και το στέλεχος της Κίνησης κα Μαρία Παύλου, με επίκεντρο την ανάπτυξη της πανεπιστημιακής εκπαίδευσης στη Λάρνακα.
Κατά τη συνάντηση έγινε ενημέρωση για τις ενέργειες του Δήμου ενόψει της δημιουργίας και λειτουργίας της Σχολής Θαλάσσιων Επιστημών, Τεχνολογίας και Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης του ΤΕΠΑΚ στη Λάρνακα, καθώς και για τις ευρύτερες προσπάθειες προσέλκυσης πανεπιστημιακών σχολών στην πόλη.
Συζητήθηκαν, επίσης, οι ανάγκες που προκύπτουν σε σχέση με τη φοιτητική στέγαση και τη δημιουργία φοιτητικών εστιών, με τον Δήμο Λάρνακας να υπογραμμίζει τη σημασία ανάπτυξης των απαραίτητων υποδομών για τη στήριξη της νέας φοιτητικής κοινότητας.
Meeting between the Mayor of Larnaca and Proodeftiki Student Movement on the development of university schools in the city
The Mayor of Larnaca, Mr Andreas Vyras, held a meeting on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, with the Trade Union Officer of the Proodeftiki Student Movement, Mr Panayiotis Neocleous, and the Movement’s member Ms Maria Pavlou, focusing on the development of university education in Larnaca.
During the meeting, the Mayor provided an update on the Municipality’s actions ahead of the establishment and operation of the Cyprus University of Technology’s (CUT) School of Marine Sciences, Technology and Sustainable Development in Larnaca, as well as on the broader efforts to attract university schools to the city.
The discussion also addressed the needs arising in relation to student accommodation and the creation of student residences, with the Municipality of Larnaca stressing the importance of developing the necessary infrastructure to support the new student community.
