Τον Σεπτέμβριο πρέπει να αρχίσει η εσωκομματική διαδικασία στον ΔΗΣΥ υποβολής υποψηφιοτήτων για τις Προεδρικές εκλογές του 2028, έτσι ώστε μέχρι τον Οκτώβριο τα μέλη του κόμματος να εκλέξουν τον υποψήφιό τους, δήλωσε ο ένας εκ των Αντιπροέδρων του Δημοκρατικού Συναγερμού, Γιάννης Καρούσος.
Ο κ. Καρούσος, μιλώντας στην εκπομπή «Διασπορά Ειδήσεων» του ΣΠΟΡ FM, 95.00, επισήμανε πως όσο πιο σύντομα γίνει η διαδικασία, τόσο περισσότερο χρόνο θα έχει ο Δημοκρατικός Συναγερμός για να οργανωθεί και να συγκεντρωθεί στις πολιτικές του θέσεις.
«Ένας από τους λόγους που είχαμε καλά αποτελέσματα στις βουλευτικές εκλογές ήταν η έγκαιρη μας οργάνωση», είπε ο κ. Καρούσος.
Ο κ. Καρούσος τόνισε επίσης πως δεν υπάρχει καμία περίπτωση ο Δημοκρατικός Συναγερμός να στηρίξει τον Νίκο Χριστοδουλίδη στις επερχόμενες Προεδρικές εκλογές, διότι και με βάση το καταστατικό του κόμματος δεν μπορεί να συμμετέχει στην εσωκομματική διαδικασία αφού δεν είναι μέλος.
«Έχει περάσει ο καιρός της εσωστρέφειας», πρόσθεσε ο Αντιπρόεδρος του ΔΗΣΥ, ο οποίος θεωρεί πως τα μέλη έχουν το πολιτικό επίπεδο να στηρίξουν όλοι ενωμένοι ένα υποψήφιο.
Σε ανάρτηση του ο κ. Καρούσος έγραψε: «Η παράταξή μας απέδειξε ότι όταν προετοιμάζεται έγκαιρα, όταν έχει ξεκάθαρο σχέδιο και ενότητα, μπορεί να πετυχαίνει σημαντικά αποτελέσματα. Γι’ αυτό πιστεύω ότι ο Δημοκρατικός Συναγερμός πρέπει να ξεκινήσει από τον Σεπτέμβριο τις εσωκομματικές διαδικασίες, ώστε μέχρι τον Οκτώβριο να έχει επιλέξει δημοκρατικά τον υποψήφιό του για τις Προεδρικές Εκλογές του 2028. Η έγκαιρη επιλογή θα δώσει τον απαραίτητο χρόνο για οργάνωση, παραγωγή πολιτικών προτάσεων και ουσιαστική επικοινωνία με την κοινωνία. Η εποχή της εσωστρέφειας πρέπει να ανήκει οριστικά στο παρελθόν. Με ενότητα, συλλογικότητα και σεβασμό στη βούληση των μελών μας, μπορούμε να οικοδομήσουμε μια ισχυρή πρόταση για το μέλλον της Κύπρου».
Yiannis Karousos: “The Democratic Rally should launch its internal procedures in September to democratically select its candidate for the 2028 Presidential Elections by October”
Internal party procedures within DISY (Democratic Rally) for the submission of candidacies for the 2028 Presidential Elections should begin in September, so that by October the party’s members can elect their candidate, said one of the Vice Presidents of the Democratic Rally, Yiannis Karousos.
Mr. Karousos, speaking on the show “Diaspora of News” on SPOR FM 95.00, stressed that the sooner the process takes place, the more time the Democratic Rally will have to organise itself and focus on its policy positions.
“One of the reasons we achieved good results in the parliamentary elections was our timely organisation,” he said.
Mr. Karousos also emphasised that there is no possibility for the Democratic Rally to support Nikos Christodoulides in the upcoming Presidential Elections, as under the party’s statute he cannot take part in its internal process since he is not a member.
“The era of introversion has passed,” the DISY Vice President added, expressing the view that party members have the political maturity to rally behind a single candidate in unity.
In a social media post, Mr. Karousos wrote:
“Our faction has proven that when it prepares in time, when it has a clear plan and unity, it can achieve significant results. That is why I believe the Democratic Rally should begin its internal procedures in September so that by October it can democratically select its candidate for the 2028 Presidential Elections. Early selection will provide the necessary time for organisation, policy development, and meaningful communication with society. The era of introversion must definitively belong to the past. With unity, collectivity, and respect for the will of our members, we can build a strong proposal for the future of Cyprus.”
