Μετά το ζήτημα που προέκυψε στα Μέσα Κοινωνικής Δικτύωσης και το οποίο είχε αναδειχθεί τόσο από το SkalaTimes όσο και από δημότες, σχετικά με τη λανθασμένη επιλογή φυτών που τοποθετήθηκαν στο Παττίχειο Πάρκο (συγκεκριμένα μπανάνες και καλλωπιστικά φυτά), ο Δήμος Λάρνακας εξέδωσε σήμερα σχετική ανακοίνωση.
Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες του SkalaTimes: “το λάθος αποδίδεται στον αρχιτέκτονα του έργου, παρά τις οδηγίες που είχαν δοθεί από τον Δήμο και το Τμήμα Δασών. Τα φυτά που έχουν τοποθετηθεί θα μεταφυτευτούν σε άλλο σημείο, το οποίο μέχρι στιγμής δεν έχει διευκρινιστεί, ενώ η συνολική τους αξία εκτιμάται περίπου στις δέκα χιλιάδες ευρώ”.
Ακολουθεί αυτούσια η σημερινή ανακοίνωση του Δήμου Λάρνακας:
Ο Δήμος Λάρνακας ενημερώνει τους δημότες ότι, στο πλαίσιο της υλοποίησης του έργου ανάπλασης του Παττιχείου Πάρκου, διαπιστώθηκε ότι μέρος των φυτεύσεων που πραγματοποιήθηκαν δεν συνάδει πλήρως με τις πρόνοιες της περιβαλλοντικής γνωμάτευσης και τον σχεδιασμό που προβλέπει τη χρήση κατάλληλων γηγενών ειδών βλάστησης.
Μετά τη διαπίστωση αυτή, ο Δήμος προχώρησε στις απαραίτητες ενέργειες ώστε να διορθωθεί η κατάσταση και να διασφαλιστεί η πλήρης συμμόρφωση του έργου με τις περιβαλλοντικές απαιτήσεις και τον χαρακτήρα της περιοχής.
Ήδη έχει αποφασιστεί η μεταφύτευση των ακατάλληλων φυτών σε άλλα σημεία της πόλης και η αντικατάστασή τους με τα ενδεδειγμένα γηγενή είδη, σύμφωνα με τις υποδείξεις του Τμήματος Δασών και τους όρους της περιβαλλοντικής έγκρισης.
Ο Δήμος αντιλαμβάνεται το ενδιαφέρον και τις ανησυχίες των δημοτών για την προστασία του φυσικού περιβάλλοντος του Παττιχείου Πάρκου και θεωρεί τη δημόσια ευαισθητοποίηση σημαντικό στοιχείο για την επιτυχία του έργου. Η ανάπλαση του χώρου αποσκοπεί ακριβώς στην αναβάθμιση και ενίσχυση του φυσικού και οικολογικού του χαρακτήρα, με απόλυτο σεβασμό προς το περιβάλλον.
Larnaca Municipality clarifies planting error at Patticheio Park
Following the issue that arose on social media and was also highlighted by both SkalaTimes and members of the public regarding the incorrect selection of plants installed at Patticheio Park (specifically banana plants and ornamental species), the Municipality of Larnaca issued a relevant statement today.
According to information obtained by SkalaTimes, the mistake is attributed to the project architect, despite instructions provided by the Municipality and the Forestry Department. The plants in question are expected to be transplanted to another location, which has not yet been specified, while their total value is estimated at approximately ten thousand euros.
The following is the verbatim statement issued today by the Municipality of Larnaca:
The Municipality of Larnaca informs residents that, within the framework of the implementation of the redevelopment project of Patticheio Park, it has been found that part of the planting carried out does not fully comply with the provisions of the environmental assessment and the design, which provides for the use of appropriate native vegetation species.
Following this finding, the Municipality has proceeded with the necessary actions to correct the situation and ensure full compliance of the project with environmental requirements and the character of the area.
It has already been decided that the unsuitable plants will be transplanted to other areas of the city and replaced with the appropriate native species, in accordance with the recommendations of the Forestry Department and the terms of the environmental approval.
The Municipality understands the interest and concerns of residents regarding the protection of the natural environment of Patticheio Park and considers public awareness an important element for the success of the project. The redevelopment of the site aims precisely at upgrading and strengthening its natural and ecological character, with full respect for the environment.
