Ο Νίκος Χριστοδουλίδης έχει εθιστεί στη περιφρόνηση κάθε ίχνους δικαιοσύνης και ισονομίας
Η απόφαση του Νίκου Χριστοδουλίδη να ανανεώσει το διορισμό για τρίτη συνεχόμενη θητεία του πρόεδρου της Ανεξάρτητης Αρχής Διερεύνησης Ισχυρισμών και Παραπόνων κατά της Αστυνομίας (ΑΑΔΙΠΑ) Ανδρέα Πασχαλίδη αποτελεί θεσμική εκτροπή, παραβιάζει κάθε έννοια χρήστης διοίκησης και δεοντολογίας και προκαλεί βάναυσα τη νοημοσύνη ολόκληρης της κοινωνίας.
Ο κ. Πασχαλίδης, ποινικός ανακριτής στην υπόθεση του VideoGate, εξασφάλισε την ανανέωση της θητείας του από τον Νίκο Χριστοδουλίδη και το Υπουργικό Συμβουλίου του την ώρα που ο ίδιος διερευνά την υπόθεση που αγγίζει το Προεδρικό και τον ίδιο τον Νίκο Χριστοδουλίδη για θεσμική διαφθορά και διαπλοκυ, ενδεχόμενο πολιτικό χρηματισμό και χρήση του Ταμείου της Πρώτης Κυρίας με πολιτικά ανταλλάγματα.
Αυτή η απόφαση, σε αυτή τη χρονική συγκυρία -λίγες μέρες πριν τη δημοσιοποίηση του πορίσματος για το VideoGate- συγκρούεται απόλυτα με την ανάγκη διεξαγωγής μιας αμερόληπτης διερεύνησης και δημιουργεί σοβαρές σκιές για το πόρισμα πριν ακόμα τη δημοσίευση του.
Όταν αυτός που ελέγχεται για θεσμική διαφθορά και διαπλοκή επαναδιορίζει αυτόν που τον ελέγχει, τότε το θέμα δεν είναι νομικό αλλά βαθιά πολιτικό. Ο κ. Χριστοδουλίδης εκ των πράξεων του έχει εθιστεί στη περιφρόνηση κάθε ίχνους δικαιοσύνης και ισονομίας, ακολουθώντας πιστά τα βήματα του προκατόχου του.

Nikos Christodoulides Has Become Accustomed to Disregarding Every Principle of Justice and Equality Before the Law
Nikos Christodoulides’ decision to renew the appointment of Andreas Paschalides, President of the Independent Authority for the Investigation of Allegations and Complaints Against the Police (IAIACP), for a third consecutive term constitutes an institutional aberration. It violates every principle of good governance and ethics, and gravely insults the intelligence of society as a whole.
Mr. Paschalides, who is serving as the criminal investigator in the VideoGate case, secured the renewal of his appointment by Nikos Christodoulides and his Council of Ministers while simultaneously investigating a case that concerns the Presidential Palace and Mr. Christodoulides himself, involving allegations of institutional corruption, cronyism, possible political bribery, and the use of the First Lady’s Fund in exchange for political favours.
This decision, taken at this particular moment—just days before the publication of the VideoGate investigative report—is fundamentally incompatible with the need for an impartial investigation and casts serious doubt over the credibility of the findings even before they have been made public.
When the individual under investigation for institutional corruption and cronyism reappoints the person investigating him, the issue is no longer merely a legal one—it is profoundly political. Through his actions, Mr. Christodoulides has become accustomed to disregarding every principle of justice and equality before the law, faithfully following in the footsteps of his predecessor.
