Συμπληρώνονται σήμερα 15 χρόνια από την έκρηξη στη ναυτική βάση «Ευάγγελος Φλωράκης», στο Μαρί. Το ΑΚΕΛ τιμά τη μνήμη των δεκατριών ανδρών της Εθνικής Φρουράς, της Πυροσβεστικής και της ΕΜΑΚ που έχασαν τη ζωή τους εν ώρα καθήκοντος.
Η επέτειος της τραγωδίας φωτίζει την θεμελιώδη ευθύνη του κράτους και της οργανωμένης Πολιτείας για την προστασία της ζωής και της ασφάλειας όλων όσων βρίσκονται στην υπηρεσία της πατρίδας. Ευχή και καθήκον μας είναι να διασφαλίσουμε ότι δεν θα θρηνήσουμε ξανά ζωές σε τέτοιες τραγωδίες.
AKEL Statement on the Anniversary of the Mari Tragedy
Today marks 15 years since the explosion at the “Evangelos Florakis” Naval Base in Mari. AKEL honors the memory of the thirteen members of the National Guard, the Fire Service, and the EMAK rescue unit who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The anniversary of the tragedy highlights the fundamental responsibility of the state and its institutions to protect the lives and safety of all those serving their country. It is both our hope and our duty to ensure that such a tragedy never claims lives again.
