Λάρνακα–Μανάμα: Αδελφοποίηση με φόντο νέες γέφυρες στον Κόλπο
Ένα νέο διεθνές άνοιγμα για τη Λάρνακα σηματοδοτεί η έγκριση από το Υπουργικό Συμβούλιο του Μπαχρέιν της πρότασης για αδελφοποίηση της Λάρνακας με τη Μανάμα, πρωτεύουσα του Βασιλείου του Μπαχρέιν. Όπως ανακοίνωσε ο Δήμαρχος Λάρνακας, Ανδρέας Βύρας, πρόκειται για την πρώτη αδελφοποίηση κυπριακής πόλης με πόλη του Κόλπου, ανοίγοντας νέες προοπτικές συνεργασίας σε οικονομία, τουρισμό, πολιτισμό και άλλους τομείς. Η εξέλιξη εντάσσεται, σύμφωνα με τον Δήμαρχο, στη στρατηγική εξωστρέφειας της Λάρνακας και στην προσπάθεια ενίσχυσης της θέσης της στην ευρύτερη περιοχή.
Την εξέλιξη ανακοίνωσε μέσω Facebook ο Δήμαρχος Λάρνακας, Ανδρέας Βύρας, εκφράζοντας την ιδιαίτερη χαρά του για την απόφαση.
Όπως ανέφερε, η Λάρνακα γίνεται έτσι η πρώτη πόλη της Κύπρου που προχωρεί σε αδελφοποίηση με πόλη του Κόλπου, δημιουργώντας, όπως σημείωσε, νέες προοπτικές συνεργασίας στους τομείς της οικονομίας, του τουρισμού και του πολιτισμού, αλλά και σε άλλους τομείς.
Ο κ. Βύρας υπογράμμισε ότι η εξέλιξη εντάσσεται στην προσπάθεια του Δήμου να επενδύσει στην εξωστρέφεια της πόλης, να δημιουργήσει νέες γέφυρες συνεργασίας και να ενισχύσει τη θέση της Λάρνακας στην ευρύτερη περιοχή.
«Λάρνακα και Μανάμα πιο κοντά», ανέφερε ο Δήμαρχος, χαρακτηρίζοντας την αδελφοποίηση ως «ένα ακόμη σημαντικό βήμα για την πόλη μας».

Larnaca–Manama: Twinning Against the Backdrop of New Bridges in the Gulf
A new international opening for Larnaca is marked by the approval of the proposal by the Cabinet of Bahrain to twin Larnaca with Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain. As announced by Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras, this is the first twinning agreement between a Cypriot city and a city in the Gulf, opening up new prospects for cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism, culture and other areas. According to the Mayor, the development forms part of Larnaca’s outward-looking strategy and its efforts to strengthen the city’s position in the wider region.
The development was announced by Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras via Facebook, expressing his particular delight at the decision.
As he noted, Larnaca thus becomes the first city in Cyprus to proceed with a twinning agreement with a city in the Gulf, creating, as he pointed out, new prospects for cooperation in the fields of the economy, tourism and culture, as well as in other areas.
Mr. Vyras stressed that the development forms part of the Municipality’s efforts to invest in the city’s international outreach, create new bridges of cooperation and strengthen Larnaca’s position in the wider region.
“Larnaca and Manama closer together,” the Mayor said, describing the twinning as “another important step for our city.”
