A wine tasting evening will take place at the American Academy Junior School Larnaca to raise money for the fund of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA), with the limited tickets available on a first-come-first-served basis.
The tasting will take place at the school hall on Friday, November 20, with the wine uncorked at 7.15pm. The wines themselves, along with their accompanying cheeses and fruits and the relevant accessories (wine buckets, wine glasses etc) are all being donated by Alpha mega supermarket. Trained and respected sommelier George Hajikyriakos of Spectus Wines will guide the tasting and has personally selected the Spanish, Italian and French wines which will consist of: Marques De Caceres, Rioja, vintage white (Spain); Calvet Chablis, white (France); Langlois Chateau, Cabernet d’Anjou, rosé (France); Calvet, Bordeaux, Grand Reserve, red (France); Marqués de Cáceres, Rioja, Crianza red (France) and “the sexiest wine in the world” – Bava, Malvasia Rosé, Piemonte (Italy).
The ticket price of €15 for one adult, or €25 for two will go towards the PTA fund, with a portion also going to a selected charity, which will be decided by vote at the end of the year.
This event will be different to past PTA events: The PTA events we hold are usually for the whole family, and this is the first time we are holding an adults-only event, which we hope will be a more sophisticated alternative to the usual PTA fundraisers. We also plan to make the wine tasting an annual addition to our event calendar and are looking forward to this first evening. The event is not only open to parents of children at the school, anyone is welcome to attend, and we also wholeheartedly thank Alphamega for all their support and generous sponsorship.
