Ένα από τα πιο αγαπημένα ζευγάρια της Κυπριακής Παροικίας του Λονδίνου γιορτάζει σήμερα την 67η επέτειο γάμου του.
Πρόκειται για τον γνωστό καθηγητή Ζαννέτο Τοφαλλή, τον άνθρωπο που πρωτοστάτησε στους αγώνες για την Κύπρο στην Αγγλία, που διαδραμάτισε καθοριστικό ρόλο στη δημιουργία κυπριακού ραδιοσταθμού στο Λονδίνο και που έγραψε το όνομά του με χρυσά γράμματα στην ιστορία της Κυπριακής Παροικίας του Λονδίνου, εκεί όπου χτυπά μια άλλη Κύπρος, όμορφη και διαφορετική.
Ο ίδιος αναφέρει με συγκίνηση: «Σήμερα είναι η 67η επέτειος των γάμων μας. Παντρευτήκαμε την Κυριακή 19 Ιουλίου 1959. Είμαστε και οι δύο 88 ετών! Δεν νιώθουμε γέροι! Ήταν η ΜΟΝΗ μου σωστή επιλογή στη ζωή μου! Πήρα μια γυναίκα που με αγάπησε και την αγάπησα μέχρι σήμερα! Για 10 ολόκληρα χρόνια με βοήθησε στις σπουδές μου — από το GCE μέχρι το Διδακτορικό μου. Ποτέ μας δεν καυγαδίσαμε, γιατί η Βασούλλα ήταν χρυσάφι. Την ευχαριστώ για όλα όσα έκανε για μένα».
Ευχόμαστε στον πολυαγαπημένο μας καθηγητή και στην υπέροχη Βασούλλα του χρόνια πολλά και ευτυχισμένα. Χρόνια πολλά και ευλογημένα, με υγεία, αγάπη και χαρές, και ευχόμαστε στα εκατοστά τους γενέθλια να γιορτάσουμε όλοι μαζί!

One of the most beloved couples of the Cypriot community in London is celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary today.
It is the well-known Professor Zannetos Tofallis, a man who played a leading role in the struggles for Cyprus in Britain, who was instrumental in the creation of a Cypriot radio station in London, and who has written his name in golden letters in the history of the Cypriot community of London — a place where another Cyprus lives on, beautiful and unique in its own way.
With great emotion, he says:
“Today marks our 67th wedding anniversary. We were married on Sunday, 19 July 1959. We are both 88 years old! We do not feel old!
She was the ONLY right choice I ever made in my life! I married a woman who loved me, and whom I have loved until this very day. For 10 whole years, she supported me throughout my studies — from my GCE examinations all the way to my Doctorate. We never argued, because Vassoula was pure gold. I thank her for everything she has done for me.”
We wish our dearly beloved Professor and his wonderful Vassoula many more years of happiness. May their lives continue to be blessed with health, love, joy, and countless beautiful moments. We look forward to celebrating their 100th birthdays together!
