Με δήλωσή του που προωθήθηκε στον Τύπο, την Πέμπτη (19/02), ο βασιλιάς της Βρετανίας Κάρολος σημείωσε ότι πληροφορήθηκε με «βαθιά ανησυχία» για τη σύλληψη του νεότερου αδελφού του, πρώην πρίγκιπα Άντριου και τόνισε ότι οι Αρχές έχουν την «πλήρη και ολόψυχη υποστήριξη και συνεργασία» του παλατιού.
Υπενθυμίζεται ότι ο Άντριου Μαουντμπάτεν-Γουίντσορ, συνελήφθη το πρωί της Πέμπτης (ανήμερα των 66ων γενεθλίων του) και ανακρίνεται από τις αρμόδιες βρετανικές Αρχές, σε σχέση με την υπόθεση Έπσταΐν ενώ έρευνες πραγματοποιούνται στα δύο σπίτια του.
«Με βαθιά ανησυχία πληροφορήθηκα τα νέα για τον Άντριου Μαουντμπάτεν-Γουίνδσορ και την υποψία για κακοδιοίκηση σε δημόσιο αξίωμα», ανέφερε ο Βρετανός μονάρχης και συνέχισε:
«Αυτό που ακολουθεί τώρα είναι η πλήρης, δίκαιη και ορθή διαδικασία με την οποία το ζήτημα αυτό διερευνάται με τον κατάλληλο τρόπο και από τις αρμόδιες Αρχές.
Σε αυτό, όπως έχω πει και πριν, έχουν την πλήρη και ολόψυχη υποστήριξη και συνεργασία μας.
Επιτρέψτε μου να δηλώσω ξεκάθαρα: η δικαιοσύνη πρέπει να ακολουθήσει τον δρόμο της. Καθώς αυτή η διαδικασία συνεχίζεται, δεν θα ήταν σωστό να σχολιάσω περαιτέρω το θέμα.
Εν τω μεταξύ, η οικογένειά μου και εγώ θα συνεχίσουμε το καθήκον και την υπηρεσία μας προς όλους σας», κατέληξε ο βασιλιάς Κάρολος στην ανακοίνωσή του.

In a statement released to the press on Thursday (19/02), the King of the United Kingdom, King Charles, said he was informed “with deep concern” of the arrest of his younger brother, former Prince Andrew, and stressed that the Authorities have the “full and wholehearted support and cooperation” of the Palace.
It is recalled that Prince Andrew (Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor) was arrested on Thursday morning (on his 66th birthday) and is being questioned by the competent British Authorities in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein case, while searches are being conducted at his two residences.
“With deep concern I learned the news regarding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the British monarch stated, adding:
“What follows now is the full, fair and proper process by which this matter will be investigated appropriately and by the competent Authorities.
In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation.
Allow me to state clearly: justice must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on the matter.
In the meantime, my family and I will continue our duty and service to you all,” King Charles concluded in his statement.
