Δότης μυελού των οστών έγινε ο βουλευτής Λάρνακας Σωτήρης Ιωάννου, προσφέροντας ελπίδα ζωής σε ένα 8χρονο κοριτσάκι στην Αγγλία.
Όπως ανέφερε ο ίδιος, μιλώντας στο Sigmalive, ενημερώθηκε πριν από λίγο καιρό από το Καραϊσκάκειο Ίδρυμα ότι βρέθηκε συμβατός δότης μυελού των οστών για ασθενή που είχε ανάγκη μεταμόσχευσης.
Ακολούθησαν όλες οι απαραίτητες ιατρικές εξετάσεις και διαδικασίες, ενώ την περασμένη εβδομάδα ολοκληρώθηκε με επιτυχία η διαδικασία λήψης του μοσχεύματος.
Σύμφωνα με την ενημέρωση που έλαβε από το Καραϊσκάκειο Ίδρυμα, το μόσχευμα προορίζεται για ένα 8χρονο κοριτσάκι στην Αγγλία, το οποίο θα υποβληθεί σε μεταμόσχευση.

Larnaca MP Sotiris Ioannou became a bone marrow donor, offering hope for a new chance at life to an 8-year-old girl in England.
Speaking to Sigmalive, he said that some time ago he was informed by the Karaiskakeio Foundation that a compatible bone marrow donor had been found for a patient in need of a transplant.
All the necessary medical examinations and procedures followed, while the stem cell collection procedure was successfully completed last week.
According to the information he received from the Karaiskakeio Foundation, the donated cells are intended for an 8-year-old girl in England, who will undergo a transplant.
