Νέα σελίδα στην πολιτική του διαδρομή ανοίγει ο δημοτικός σύμβουλος Λάρνακας του ΔΗΚΟ, Νικόλας Διομήδους, ο οποίος αναλαμβάνει την προεδρία του Κυπριακού Οργανισμού Αναπτύξεως Γης (ΚΟΑΓ).
Η τοποθέτησή του έρχεται λίγους μήνες μετά την κάθοδό του στις βουλευτικές εκλογές Μαΐου ως υποψήφιος του ΔΗΚΟ στη Λάρνακα, χωρίς ωστόσο να έχει εξασφαλίσει εκλογή.
Ο ίδιος, σε ανάρτησή του, κάνει λόγο για μεγάλη ευθύνη και θέτει ως βασική προτεραιότητα την αντιμετώπιση του στεγαστικού προβλήματος, ιδιαίτερα για νέους και νεαρά ζευγάρια.

Αναλαμβάνω την Προεδρία του Κυπριακού Οργανισμού Αναπτύξεως Γης (ΚΟΑΓ) με βαθιά συναίσθηση της ευθύνης και της αποστολής που έχω ενώπιόν μου.
Ευχαριστώ θερμά για την εμπιστοσύνη στο πρόσωπό μου. Θα εργαστώ με όλες μου τις δυνάμεις, με συνέπεια, επιμονή και αποφασιστικότητα, ώστε να φανώ αντάξιος των προσδοκιών της κοινωνίας.
Η πρόσβαση σε προσιτή και αξιοπρεπή στέγη αποτελεί σήμερα μία από τις μεγαλύτερες προκλήσεις για την κυπριακή κοινωνία. Το πρόβλημα αγγίζει χιλιάδες συμπολίτες μας και ιδιαίτερα τους νέους και τα νεαρά ζευγάρια που προσπαθούν να κάνουν το επόμενο βήμα στη ζωή τους και να δημιουργήσουν τη δική τους οικογένεια.
Μαζί με το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο και τους ανθρώπους του Οργανισμού, θα δώσουμε το άπαν των δυνάμεών μας για να χαράξουμε και να υλοποιήσουμε πολιτικές που θα προσφέρουν ουσιαστικές λύσεις και πραγματική ανακούφιση σε όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερους συμπολίτες μας.
Γνωρίζω καλά ότι η αποστολή είναι δύσκολη. Είμαι, όμως, έτοιμος να ριχθώ στα δύσκολα. Σηκώνουμε μανίκια και δουλεύουμε σκληρά, με μοναδικό γνώμονα το όφελος των πολιτών και της κοινωνίας μας
Larnaca Municipal Councillor Nikolas Diomidous appointed new President of the Cyprus Land Development Corporation (CLDC)
A new chapter in the political career of Larnaca Municipal Councillor and DIKO member Nikolas Diomidous begins as he takes over as President of the Cyprus Land Development Corporation (CLDC).
His appointment comes just a few months after he ran in the May parliamentary elections as a DIKO candidate in Larnaca, but failed to secure a seat.
In a statement posted online, Diomidous described his new role as a major responsibility and identified addressing the housing crisis, particularly for young people and young couples, as a key priority.
His statement:
I assume the Presidency of the Cyprus Land Development Corporation (CLDC) with a deep sense of responsibility and a clear awareness of the mission before me.
I sincerely thank everyone for the trust they have placed in me. I will work to the best of my abilities, with consistency, perseverance and determination, in order to live up to the expectations of society.
Access to affordable and decent housing is today one of the greatest challenges facing Cypriot society. The problem affects thousands of our fellow citizens, particularly young people and young couples who are trying to take the next step in their lives and start a family of their own.
Together with the Board of Directors and the people of the Organisation, we will give our utmost to develop and implement policies that will provide meaningful solutions and genuine relief to as many of our fellow citizens as possible.
I am fully aware that the task is a difficult one. However, I am ready to take on the challenge. We are rolling up our sleeves and working hard, with the sole aim of serving the interests of citizens and society as a whole.
