Τα Βραβεία Madame Figaro 2026, που παρουσιάζει η Nespresso και έχουν πλέον καθιερωθεί ως θεσμός, στοχεύουν στην ανάδειξη και επιβράβευση Κυπρίων γυναικών που ξεχωρίζουν στον τομέα τους.
Στην φετινή κατηγορία «Μουσικός της Χρονιάς» βρίσκεται και η Έλενα Χατζηαυξέντη, από τους Τρούλλους, γνωστή και ιδιαίτερα αγαπητή στην επαρχία Λάρνακας. Πρόκειται για μια καλλιτέχνιδα που έχει ζήσει για πολλά χρόνια στην Ελλάδα και το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και σήμερα δραστηριοποιείται κυρίως στη Βρετανία.
Ωστόσο, η αγάπη της για την Κύπρο την φέρνει συχνά πίσω στο νησί. Πρόσφατα βρέθηκε στη Λάρνακα, όπου στήριξε με την παρουσία και το ταλέντο της τη φετινή διοργάνωση του Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Ποίησης Λάρνακας.
Ποια είναι η Έλενα Χατζηαυξέντη
Σύμφωνα με την παρουσίαση των Βραβείων Madame Figaro: η Έλενα Χατζηαυξέντη συνδυάζει τη μουσική, το μουσικό θέατρο, την υποκριτική, την ποίηση και τη διακαλλιτεχνική performance σε ένα ενιαίο εκφραστικό σύμπαν.
Με σταθερή διεθνή παρουσία και έντονη καλλιτεχνική συνέπεια, η πορεία της ξεχωρίζει για τον τρόπο με τον οποίο αναδεικνύει τη σύγχρονη κυπριακή πολιτιστική ταυτότητα μέσα από πολυδιάστατες σκηνικές φόρμες.
Κατά την περίοδο 2025–2026, παρουσίασε πλούσιο καλλιτεχνικό έργο σε Κύπρο, Ελλάδα και Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Συμμετείχε στην εικαστικο-μουσική performance «Little Lights» στην Paul Smith Space Gallery στο Λονδίνο, μαζί με τον Orlando Seale, καθώς και στην παράσταση «An Album of Stories» στο Θέατρο Τέχνης, σε σκηνοθεσία Μάριου Θεοχάρους.
Στην Αθήνα παρουσίασε τη μουσική παράσταση «Θάλασσα – Τραγούδια και Ιστορίες από την Κύπρο» στο Σπίτι της Κύπρου, ενώ στο Δημοτικό Θέατρο Λάρνακας, στο πλαίσιο του Ευρωπαϊκού Πολιτιστικού Χειμώνα Λάρνακας, παρουσίασε τη συναυλία «Μνήμες και Όνειρα» με τον Ανδρέα Παπαπέτρου, με επίκεντρο τις έννοιες της ειρήνης και της δικαιοσύνης.
Τον Μάρτιο του 2026 παρουσίασε στην Αθήνα το έργο «Γυναίκες – Μουσικές Ιστορίες» με τον Νίκο Ευαγγέλου, καθώς και στην Κύπρο το έργο «Γένους Θρυλικού» της Ευσταθίας, αναδεικνύοντας τη σύγχρονη γυναικεία μουσικοθεατρική δημιουργία μέσα από μουσική και σκηνική αφήγηση.
Τον Φεβρουάριο 2026 συμμετείχε στο καλλιτεχνικό δρώμενο «Aphrodite was born in Cyprus» στην Πρεσβευτική Κατοικία στο Λονδίνο, με την Αναστασία Ρεβή και σε συνεργασία με τη Βασιλική Κούρου, παρουσιάζοντας και τη νέα σύνθεση του Νίκου Ευαγγέλου «Τ’ αδόνιν», βασισμένη σε μελοποιημένη κυπριακή μεσαιωνική ποίηση.
Τον Δεκέμβριο 2025 δημιούργησε μαζί με τον Χρήστο Φούντο τη μουσική διασκευή «A Christmas Carol – Lights and Shadows», που παρουσιάστηκε στο Hellenic Centre στο Λονδίνο, ενώ συμμετείχε στο Φεστιβάλ Σύγχρονου Ελληνικού Έργου στο Δημοτικό Θέατρο Πειραιά με την ομάδα Theatre Lab Company, σε σκηνοθεσία Αναστασίας Ρεβή.
Παράλληλα, δημιούργησε, σκηνοθέτησε και ερμήνευσε τη μουσικοθεατρική παραγωγή «Τα τελευταία Χριστούγεννα του Αυξεντίου», αφιερωμένη στον Γρηγόρη Αυξεντίου.
Στο Λονδίνο πρωταγωνίστησε στο έργο «Love in a Foreign Land» της Maria Vigar στο Playground Theatre, σε σκηνοθεσία Αναστασίας Ρεβή και με μουσική του Louis de Bernières, ενσαρκώνοντας τον ρόλο μιας Κύπριας γυναίκας μέσα από έναν απαιτητικό συνδυασμό τραγουδιού και υποκριτικής. Η ερμηνεία της απέσπασε θερμές κριτικές από τον βρετανικό Τύπο, με χαρακτηρισμούς όπως «συγκλονιστική», «βαθιά ανθρώπινη» και «συναισθηματικά καθηλωτική».
Ιδιαίτερης σημασίας είναι η συνεργασία της με την Audible της Amazon σε projects φωνητικής αφήγησης, καθώς και με το μουσικό σχήμα Unicorn Frequency και τον Bogdan Vacarescu, όπου συμμετέχει ως βασική φωνή σε ένα σύγχρονο μουσικό σύνολο που γεφυρώνει την κλασική δεξιοτεχνία με τη σύγχρονη performance.
Η καλλιτεχνική της διαδρομή περιλαμβάνει συνεργασίες με κορυφαίους δημιουργούς όπως ο Μίκης Θεοδωράκης, ο Θάνος Μικρούτσικος, ο Γιώργος Θεοφάνους, ο Θέμης Καραμουρατίδης, ο Γιώργος Χατζηνάσιος και ο Κώστας Κακογιάννης, συγκροτώντας ένα πολυσχιδές έργο που κινείται ανάμεσα στη μουσική, το θέατρο και την πολιτιστική αφήγηση.
«Με εμπνέουν οι ιστορίες των ανθρώπων, η ποίηση, η μουσική, τα ταξίδια, η φύση και όλα όσα κουβαλούν αλήθεια και συναίσθημα. Συχνά μια μικρή ανθρώπινη στιγμή, μια μνήμη ή μια εικόνα μπορεί να γίνει η αφετηρία μιας ολόκληρης δημιουργίας. Η τέχνη, για μένα, γεννιέται μέσα από την ανάγκη να συνδεθούμε ουσιαστικά με τους άλλους», σημειώνει η ίδια.

Madame Figaro Awards 2026: Elena Hatziafxenti from Troulloi nominated in the “Musician of the Year” category

The Madame Figaro Awards 2026, presented by Nespresso and now established as an institution, aim to highlight and honour Cypriot women who stand out in their respective fields.
In this year’s “Musician of the Year” category is Elena Hatziafxenti, from Troulloi, a well-known and highly beloved figure in the Larnaca district. She is an artist who has lived for many years in Greece and the United Kingdom and is currently mainly based in Britain.
However, her love for Cyprus often brings her back to the island. She was recently in Larnaca, where she supported this year’s Larnaca International Poetry Festival with her presence and artistic talent.
Elena Hadjiafxenti
According to the presentation of the Madame Figaro Awards, Elena Hadjiafxenti combines music, musical theatre, acting, poetry, and interdisciplinary performance into a unified expressive universe. With a consistent international presence and strong artistic coherence, her career stands out for the way it highlights contemporary Cypriot cultural identity through multidimensional stage forms.
During the 2025–2026 period, she presented a rich body of artistic work in Cyprus, Greece, and the United Kingdom. She participated in the visual–musical performance “Little Lights” at the Paul Smith Space Gallery in London, alongside Orlando Seale, as well as in the production “An Album of Stories” at the Art Theatre, directed by Marios Theoharous.
In Athens, she presented the musical performance “Sea – Songs and Stories from Cyprus” at the House of Cyprus, while at the Larnaca Municipal Theatre, within the framework of the Larnaca European Cultural Winter, she presented the concert “Memories and Dreams” with Andreas Papapetrou, focusing on the concepts of peace and justice.
In March 2026, she presented in Athens the work “Women – Musical Stories” with Nikos Evangelou, as well as in Cyprus the production “Of Legendary Gender” by Efstathia, highlighting contemporary female musical-theatrical creation through music and stage storytelling.
In February 2026, she participated in the artistic event “Aphrodite was born in Cyprus” at the Ambassador’s Residence in London, with Anastasia Revi and in collaboration with Vasiliki Kourou, also presenting the new composition by Nikos Evangelou, “T’ adonin”, based on Cypriot medieval poetry set to music.
In December 2025, together with Christos Fountos, she created the musical adaptation “A Christmas Carol – Lights and Shadows”, presented at the Hellenic Centre in London, while she also participated in the Contemporary Greek Theatre Festival at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus with the Theatre Lab Company, directed by Anastasia Revi.
At the same time, she created, directed, and performed the musical-theatrical production “Gregoris Afxentiou’s Last Christmas”, dedicated to Grigoris Afxentiou.
In London, she starred in “Love in a Foreign Land” by Maria Vigar at the Playground Theatre, directed by Anastasia Revi and with music by Louis de Bernières, portraying a Cypriot woman through a demanding combination of singing and acting. Her performance received warm reviews from the British press, described as “stunning,” “deeply human,” and “emotionally compelling.”
Of particular importance is her collaboration with Audible by Amazon in voice narration projects, as well as with the musical ensemble Unicorn Frequency and Bogdan Vacarescu, where she participates as a lead vocalist in a contemporary musical group that bridges classical virtuosity with modern performance.
Her artistic journey includes collaborations with leading creators such as Mikis Theodorakis, Thanos Mikroutsikos, Giorgos Theofanous, Themis Karamouratidis, Giorgos Hatzinasios, and Kostas Kakogiannis, forming a multifaceted body of work that moves between music, theatre, and cultural storytelling.
“I am inspired by people’s stories, poetry, music, travel, nature, and everything that carries truth and emotion. Often a small human moment, a memory, or an image can become the starting point of an entire creation. Art, for me, is born from the need to connect meaningfully with others,” she notes.
