Και εκεί που λες ότι τα πράγματα δεν μπορούν να γίνουν χειρότερα στην πολιτική σκακιέρα του τόπου, έρχεται μια έκπληξη, μια είδηση, ένα βιντεάκι =κάτι – για να σου υπενθυμίσει πως μπορούν να γίνουν και ακόμη χειρότερα.
Φαίνεται πως σε αυτές τις εκλογές (Βουλευτικές, Μάιος 2026) δεν θα υπάρχουν κριτήρια για τους υποψήφιους βουλευτές, με τον πήχη να έχει ήδη πέσει πολύ χαμηλά, υπό τη γνωστή δικαιολογία-ατάκα: «γιατί αυτοί που έχουμε -βουλευτές/πολιτικοί – είναι καλύτεροι;».
Την ίδια ώρα, βλέπουμε να ζητούνται βουλευτές μέσω… Facebook.
(Σαν αγγελία για εργασία σε σουβλατζίδικο!)
Μια τέτοια ανάρτηση ήταν και η πρόσφατη του κυρίου Χριστόφορου Τορναρίτη:
«Άνοιξαν θέσεις υποψήφιων Βουλευτών για όλες τις επαρχίες.
Αν είσαι ένας από αυτούς που Αγαπάς πραγματικά την Πατρίδα σου , αν είσαι ένας από αυτούς που αναγνωρίζεις ότι τα προβλήματα της χώρας μας ξεκινούν από εμάς , τον λαό της, αν έχεις αρχές , αν νιώθεις Αγάπη, σεβασμό και ευγνωμοσύνη για τον εαυτό σου και τους γύρω σου συμπλήρωσε το ποιο κάτω ερωτηματολόγιο .

Το SkalaTimes κλείνει το κείμενο αυτό με την ευχή «και μη χειρότερα», που σημαίνει μακάρι να μπει ένα τέλος σε αυτή την πτώση που βλέπουμε στην πολιτική σκακιέρα του τόπου, με βαριές πινελιές διαφθοράς και αδαημοσύνης να χορεύουν ταγκό, με θύματα εμάς – τον απλό λαό.
Wanted: Parliamentary Candidates… and Hope!
And just when you think that things cannot possibly get any worse on the country’s political chessboard, along comes a surprise, a piece of news, a short video — something — to remind you that they can, in fact, get even worse.
It appears that in these elections (Parliamentary Elections, May 2026) there will be no criteria for parliamentary candidates, with the bar already having fallen alarmingly low, under the familiar excuse-cum-catchphrase: “Are the ones we already have — MPs/politicians — any better?”
At the same time, we see MPs being recruited via… Facebook.
(Like a job ad for work at a souvlaki takeaway!)
One such post was the recent one by Mr Christoforos Tornaritis:
“Positions for parliamentary candidates have opened for all districts.
If you are one of those who truly love your Homeland,
if you are one of those who recognise that the problems of our country start with us, its people,
if you have principles,
if you feel love, respect and gratitude for yourself and for those around you,
fill in the questionnaire below.

SkalaTimes concludes this piece with the wish “and may things not get any worse”, meaning a hope that an end will be put to the downward spiral we are witnessing on the country’s political chessboard — where heavy strokes of corruption and ignorance dance a tango, with the victims being us, the ordinary people.
