Η παραίτηση του Χαράλαμπου Χαραλάμπους από διευθυντή του Γραφείου του Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας είναι η πρώτη ένδειξη ευθιξίας από πλευράς της διακυβέρνησης Χριστοδουλίδη.
Η αποκάλυψη του βίντεο και του ρόλου του «μεσάζοντα» που έχει αναλάβει ο διευθυντής του γραφείου του Προέδρου για την εξασφάλιση πόρων, τόσο για το Ταμείο της πρώτης κυρίας όσο και για το προεκλογικό ταμείο του Προέδρου για την εκστρατεία, κατέστησαν μονόδρομο την παραίτηση ή απόλυσή του. Η δε προσπάθεια του επικοινωνιακού μηχανισμού του προεδρικού να δικαιολογήσει τα αδικαιολόγητα έχει εκθέσει ανεπανόρθωτα τον Πρόεδρο Χριστοδουλίδη.
Θα πρέπει να αντιμετωπιστούν άμεσα και με πειστικό τρόπο οι τρεις διαστάσεις του θέματος: πολιτική, θεσμική και πιθανές ποινικές ευθύνες όπως καθορίζονται στη νομοθεσία για το λόμπι και τη διακίνηση ποσών άνω των €10,000. Για να γίνουν αυτά χρειάζεται να διοριστεί ανεξάρτητος Δημόσιος Κατήγορος που θα προΐσταται των ερευνών. Θα πρέπει επίσης η ΜΟΚΑΣ να ερευνήσει το πιθανό ξέπλυμα μαύρου χρήματος.
Ως Volt θα απαιτήσουμε:
1. την άμεση συζήτηση της πρότασης νόμου της βουλεύτριας μας κ. Αλεξάνδρας Ατταλίδου, που αφορά την διαχείριση δωρεών προς το κράτος,
2. Την άμεση συζήτηση της πρότασης νόμου που ετοιμάζουν οι υπηρεσίες με εντολή της βουλεύτρια μας για κατάργηση του φορέα και μεταφορά των αρμοδιοτήτων του στο Ίδρυμα Κρατικών Υποτροφιών και στο Υφυπουργείο Πρόνοιας
3. Την άμεση συζήτηση της πρότασης Ατταλίδου – Θεοπεμπτου για να δοθούν ανακριτικές εξουσίες η Αρχή Κατά της Διαφθορας.
VOLT: Charalambos Charalambous’ resignation must mark the beginning of a cleansing
The resignation of Charalambos Charalambous from his position as Director of the Office of the President of the Republic is the first sign of accountability from the Christodoulides administration.
The revelation of the video and the role of the “intermediary” undertaken by the President’s office director to secure funds—both for the First Lady’s Fund and for the President’s election campaign—made his resignation or dismissal inevitable. Moreover, the attempts by the presidential communications machinery to justify the unjustifiable have irreparably exposed President Christodoulides.
The three dimensions of this matter—political, institutional, and potential criminal responsibilities as defined by the legislation on lobbying and the handling of amounts over €10,000—must be addressed immediately and convincingly. To achieve this, an independent Public Prosecutor should be appointed to lead the investigations. The MOKAS (Money Laundering Reporting Authority) should also investigate possible money laundering.
As Volt, we will demand:
- The immediate discussion of the bill proposed by our MP, Ms. Alexandra Attalidou, concerning the management of donations to the state.
- The immediate discussion of the bill being prepared by the services under the instructions of our MP, for the abolition of the entity and the transfer of its responsibilities to the State Scholarships Foundation and the Deputy Ministry of Welfare.
- The immediate discussion of the Attalidou-Theopemptou proposal granting investigative powers to the Anti-Corruption Authority.
