Στις 2 Φεβρουαρίου 2026, η Επιτροπή Ανάπτυξης Πόλης και Επαρχίας Λάρνακας, υπό την προεδρία του Δημάρχου Ανδρέα Βύρα, προχώρησε σε σειρά αποφάσεων, όπως αυτές γνωστοποιήθηκαν μέσω ανακοίνωσης του Δήμου Λάρνακας.
Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση, η Επιτροπή αποφάσισε ότι:
“Εντός 15 ημερών να παρουσιαστούν ενώπιον της Επιτροπής σαφή και συγκεκριμένα χρονοδιαγράμματα, τόσο για την ολοκλήρωση της μελέτης του Υπερταμείου και των ξένων εμπειρογνωμόνων, όσο και για την ολοκλήρωση της δημόσιας διαβούλευσης, καθώς επίσης και συγκεκριμένα χρονοδιαγράμματα – οδικός χάρτης, για το πώς θα φτάσουμε το συντομότερο στην υλοποίηση της επιθυμητής Ανάπτυξης τόσο του Λιμανιού όσο και της Μαρίνας Λάρνακας. Εντός 15 ημερών να εξεταστούν και να παρουσιαστούν ενώπιον της Επιτροπής όλες οι παράμετροι της πρότασης αναβίωσης του Έργου από μετόχους της Κοινοπραξίας Κίτιον, καθώς και ποια είναι η τεκμηριωμένη θέση του Υπουργείου Μεταφορών, Επικοινωνιών και Έργων. Όπως αναφέρθηκε και σε προηγούμενη απόφαση της Επιτροπής, μετά τους απαραίτητους ελέγχους όλων των πτυχών (οι οποίοι θα κατατεθούν και θα επεξηγηθούν με λεπτομέρεια ενώπιον της Επιτροπής) και σε περίπτωση που η απόφαση βασίζεται σε πολιτική απόφαση, η Επιτροπή επιθυμεί να έχει πλήρη και ξεκάθαρη θέση στην οποία η Κυβέρνηση να τη λάβει υπόψη για την τελική της απόφαση”.
Τρία μόλις εικοσιτετράωρα πριν από την εκπνοή της προθεσμίας, παραμένει ασαφές κατά πόσο έχουν ολοκληρωθεί οι ενέργειες που η ίδια η Επιτροπή είχε θέσει ως άμεση προτεραιότητα. Μέχρι στιγμής δεν έχει δημοσιοποιηθεί εάν συγκεντρώθηκαν τα ζητούμενα στοιχεία ούτε εάν έχουν προγραμματιστεί οι απαραίτητες παρουσιάσεις.
Το ενδιαφέρον πλέον στρέφεται στις αναμενόμενες τοποθετήσεις του αρμόδιου Υπουργείου, ενώ ερωτήματα εγείρονται ως προς το κατά πόσο η δημοτική αρχή θα κινηθεί με την απαιτούμενη ταχύτητα ή εάν το ζήτημα κινδυνεύει να προστεθεί στη μακρά λίστα εκκρεμοτήτων που συνοδεύουν το έργο-sequel “λιμάνι μαρίνα Λάρνακας”.
Η Δευτέρα 16/2/26 θεωρείται κομβική ημερομηνία, καθώς αναμένεται να διαφανεί εάν θα υπάρξουν συγκεκριμένες απαντήσεις και ενδεχομένως σύγκληση της Επιτροπής Ανάπτυξης ή αν η υπόθεση θα εισέλθει εκ νέου σε κύκλο αναμονής, με τη λέξη «υπομονή» να παραμένει γνώριμη για την τοπική κοινωνία. Το θέμα είναι κατά πόσο θα κάνουμε υπομονή και θα δεχόμαστε τον ένα εμπαιγμό μετά τον άλλον ως πόλη…..Ως πότε, αλήθεια;

On February 2, 2026, the City and District Development Committee, under the presidency of Mayor Andreas Vyras, proceeded with a series of decisions, as announced through a statement issued by the Municipality of Larnaca.
According to the announcement, the Committee decided that:
“Within 15 days, clear and specific timelines must be presented before the Committee, both for the completion of the study by the Sovereign Fund and the foreign experts, as well as for the completion of the public consultation. Additionally, specific timelines – a roadmap – must be submitted, outlining how the desired development of both the Port and the Marina of Larnaca will be implemented as soon as possible.
Within 15 days, all parameters of the proposal for the revival of the Project by shareholders of the Kition Consortium must be examined and presented before the Committee, as well as the documented position of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works. As stated in a previous decision of the Committee, following the necessary checks of all aspects (which will be submitted and explained in detail before the Committee) and in the event that the decision is based on a political decision, the Committee wishes to have a full and clear position which the Government will take into consideration for its final decision.”
Just three days before the deadline expires, it remains unclear whether the actions that the Committee itself had set as an immediate priority have been completed. So far, it has not been made public whether the requested data have been collected, nor whether the necessary presentations have been scheduled.
Attention is now turning to the expected statements from the competent Ministry, while questions are being raised as to whether the municipal authority will move at the required pace or whether the issue risks being added to the long list of pending matters surrounding the Port and Marina of Larnaca project sequel.
Monday, February 16, 2026, is considered a pivotal date, as it is expected to become clear whether specific answers will be provided and possibly whether the Development Committee will convene, or whether the issue will once again enter a cycle of waiting, with the word “patience” remaining all too familiar for the local community. The question, however, is how long the city will continue to remain patient and accept one mockery after another… For how long?
