Με αφορμή την Παγκόσμια μέρα κατά του Παιδικού Καρκίνου, της 15ης Φεβρουαρίου, οι μαθητές του Λυκείου Μακαρίου Γ´ στη Λάρνακα έστειλαν ένα ζεστό μήνυμα αγάπης, δύναμης και συμπαράστασης.
Στην αυλή του σχολείου δημιούργησαν ένα γαϊτανάκι με χρυσοκίτρινες κορδέλες, το χρώμα που συμβολίζει τον αγώνα των παιδιών και των εφήβων απέναντι στον καρκίνο. Με τον χορό τους έδειξαν πως στέκονται δίπλα σε όσους παλεύουν, πως τους σκέφτονται και τους θαυμάζουν για το κουράγιο τους.
Έστειλαν το μήνυμα ότι η ελπίδα γεννιέται όταν μοιραζόμαστε τον πόνο, όταν κρατάμε ο ένας το χέρι του άλλου και όταν μετατρέπουμε τη συμπαράσταση σε πράξη.
Να θυμίσουμε ότι το Λύκειο Μακαρίου Γ´ είναι ένα από τα οκτώ σχολεία που συμμετέχουν στη δράση «Απ’ άκρη σ’ άκρη, μαζί». Στο πλαίσιο αυτής της πρωτοβουλίας, εδώ και μήνες οι μαθητές οργανώνουν ενέργειες για την οικονομική ενίσχυση των Μικρών Ηρώων και των οικογενειών τους.
Έχουν πουλήσει κρέπες, λουλούδια, γλυκά και γούρια, τραγούδησαν σε μουσική βραδιά, διοργάνωσαν τόμπολα και ετοιμάζονται να ανεβάσουν θεατρική παράσταση — λίγα μόνο από όσα έχουν κάνει με πολλή αγάπη και προσφορά.
Γιατί κανένα παιδί δεν πρέπει να παλεύει μόνο του.
On the occasion of International Childhood Cancer Day, February 15, the students of Makarios III Lyceum in Larnaca sent a heartfelt message of love, strength, and solidarity.
In the schoolyard, they created a traditional gaïtanaki dance with golden-yellow ribbons — the color that symbolizes the fight of children and adolescents against cancer. Through their dance, they showed that they stand beside those who are battling the disease, that they think of them and admire their courage.
They sent the message that hope is born when we share the pain, when we hold each other’s hands, and when we turn solidarity into action.
It is worth noting that Makarios III Lyceum is one of the eight schools participating in the initiative “From End to End, Together.” Within the framework of this initiative, for months now the students have been organizing activities to financially support the Little Heroes and their families.
They have sold crepes, flowers, sweets, and lucky charms; they sang at a music night, organized raffles, and are preparing to stage a theatrical performance — just a few of the many things they have done with great love and generosity.
Because no child should ever have to fight alone.
