Αύριο Παρασκευή η καθοριστική συνεδρίαση της Επιστροπή Ανάπτυξης παρουσία του Υπουργού Μεταφορών κ.Βαφεάδη όπου αναμένουμε ότι θα μετρηθούν συνειδήσεις και θα ληφθούν αποφάσεις όπου η Λάρνακα θα είναι πάνω από ΟΛΑ!
ΑΝΑΡΤΗΣΗ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ ΗΛΙΑ:
Το διαχρονικά κομματικά και άλλα συμφέροντα που αφήνουν την πόλη στάσιμη, τα ευχολόγια της κυβέρνησης των τελευταίων 22 μηνών με τις τοπικές αρχές σε ρόλο κομπάρσου και χειροκροτητή και ένα έργο όπου από ορόσημο του 1,2 δις , συμβιβαζόμαστε με μια τοπιοτέχνηση και ένα κτίριο yacht club που ακόμη κι αυτό δεν βρήκαν ακόμη τη σωστή ορολογία να το βαφτίσουν.
Και πάμε και στην περιβόητη μελέτη του Υπερταμείου Ελλάδος ( https://www.stockwatch.com.cy/…/h-protasi-ypertamioy… )η οποία προκρίνει το διαχωρισμό του έργου (αναμενώμενο αφού αυτή είναι και η νέα γραμμή από τους τοπικούς μας άρχοντες) βάζοντας οριστική ταφόπλακα στην ενιαία ανάπτυξη. Για την ιστορία, τη λύση της ενιαίας έβαλε στο τραπέζι το 2005, ο Χάρης Θράσου (Υπουργός ΑΚΕΛ στην Κυβέρνηση Τάσσου Παπαδόπουλου).
Η ίδια η μελέτη που την περίμεναν ως Ευαγγέλιο Δήμος και ΕΒΕΛ δεν αποκλείει καμία χρήση του λιμανιού (Τουριστική-Εμπορική) ενώ για τη μαρίνα προκρίνει την τουριστική της ανάπτυξη με επενδυτή, ενώ αναφέρεται στα μιλλοσφοτζίσματα που ακούμε εδώ και 22 μήνες, ως επιλογή που δεν θα ικανοποιεί τη ζήτηση.
Επειδή φαίνεται οι αποφάσεις πάρθηκαν ήδη, ρεαλιστικό σενάριο για να υλοποιηθούν οι προτάσεις του Υπερταμείου θα χρειαστεί μια δεκαετία στο καλύτερο σενάριο, με βάσει το πως δουλεύουν οι διαδικασίες του κράτους για δημόσιους διαγωνισμούς και αυτό αν όλα πάνε ρολόι, βρεθεί επενδυτής, δεν υπάρξουν ενστάσεις, προσφυγή στη δικαιοσύνη από την ΚΙΤΙΟΝ κτλ.
Το όραμα δυστυχώς χάνεται και το μοναδικό έργο που θα έβαζε την πόλη μας σε μια νέα εποχή, που θα έδινε στα παιδιά μας μια Λάρνακα με ευκαιρίες, θα είμαστε τυχεροί αν ζήσουμε να το δούμε να υλοποιείται.
Όλα αυτά γιατί οι ίδιοι άνθρωποι που εδώ και 20 χρόνια ασχολούνται με το θέμα ακόμη δεν ξέρουν τι θέλουν, τα κόμματα ανάλογα με το ποιος είναι Δήμαρχος βάζουν τις κομματικές τους ατζέντες πάνω απ´την πόλη και δυστυχώς μια Λάρνακα που γίνεται ξανά έρμαιο στις ορέξεις τους.”

Tomorrow, Friday, is the decisive meeting of the Development Committee, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Mr. Vafeadis, where we expect consciences to be measured and decisions to be made, with Larnaca placed above ALL else!

The longstanding party and other interests that keep the city stagnant, the wishful thinking of the government over the past 22 months with local authorities playing the role of extras and applause-makers, and a project that, from a landmark €1.2 billion, we are now compromising with landscaping and a yacht club building—even this, they haven’t yet found the right terminology to name.
Then there is the infamous study by the Hellenic Hyperfund (https://www.stockwatch.com.cy/…/h-protasi-ypertamioy…) which recommends splitting the project (expected, as this is also the new line from our local leaders), putting a permanent halt to unified development. For the record, the unified solution was first brought to the table in 2005 by Haris Thrassou (AKEL Minister in the Tassos Papadopoulos Government).
The study itself, which the Municipality and the Chamber of Commerce awaited as gospel, does not exclude any use of the port (tourism–commercial), while for the marina it recommends tourism development with an investor. It also refers to the “half-measures” we have been hearing about for 22 months, as an option that will not meet demand.
Since it seems decisions have already been made, a realistic scenario for implementing the Hyperfund’s proposals would take a decade in the best-case scenario, based on how state procedures for public tenders work—and that’s assuming everything runs smoothly, an investor is found, no objections arise, no appeals to the courts from KITION, etc.
Unfortunately, the vision is lost, and the only project that could place our city in a new era, that could give our children a Larnaca full of opportunities, we would be lucky to live to see it realized.
All this because the same people who have been dealing with the issue for 20 years still don’t know what they want; the political parties, depending on who the Mayor is, place their party agendas above the city, and, sadly, Larnaca once again becomes a hostage to their whims.
