Πραγματοποιήθηκε χθες με τεράστια επιτυχία το πρώτο Φεστιβάλ Γειτονιάς Προδρόμου, με διοργανωτές πρώην και νυν κατοίκους Προδρόμου.
Την εκδήλωση τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους: Οι βουλευτές Λάρνακας Πρόδρομος Αλαμπρίτης (ΔΗΣΥ), Ανδρέας Πασιουρτίδης (ΑΚΕΛ), Σωτήρης Ιωάννου (ΕΛΑΜ), Χρίστος Ορφανίδης (ΔΗΚΟ), ο Δήμαρχος Λάρνακας Ανδρέας Βύρας, ο Πρόεδρος ΕΟΑΛ Άγγελος Χατζηχαραλάμπους, ο Αντιδήμαρχος Λάρνακας Ιάσωνας Ιασωνίδης, ο Επαρχιακός ΔΗΣΥ Λάρνακας Θεολόγος Μανώλη, η Επαρχιακή ΑΚΕΛ Λάρνακας Χρυστάλλα Αντωνίου, ο Επαρχιακός ΔΗΚΟ Λάρνακας Ντίνος Σκεπαρνίδης, Δημοτικοί Σύμβουλοι Λάρνακας, η Κοινωνική Λειτουργός του Δήμου Λάρνακας, ο Κώστας Μαννούρης και η Μαρία Παπαδοπούλου του ΛΑΡΝΑΚΑ 2030, γνωστοί καλλιτέχνες και επιχειρηματίες, πρώην και νυν κάτοικοι Προδρόμου, καθώς και επισκέπτες από άλλες περιοχές.
Το φεστιβάλ ξεκίνησε με το “Καφενείο Ιδεών”, όπου κάτοικοι Προδρόμου κατέθεσαν προβλήματα και εισηγήσεις σε αξιωματούχους της πόλης που ήταν παρόντες: οι βουλευτές Αλαμπρίτης, Πασιουρτίδης και Ορφανίδης, ο Πρόεδρος του ΕΟΑΛ κ. Χατζηχαραλάμπους και ο Αντιδήμαρχος κ. Ιασωνίδης. Τα προβλήματα σημειώθηκαν και θα δοθούν γραπτώς στις τοπικές αρχές, ενώ αναλυτικό ρεπορτάζ με τα προβλήματα που ακούστηκαν θα δημοσιευτεί στο SkalaTimes.
Στη συνέχεια ακολούθησαν σύντομοι χαιρετισμοί από τον Δήμαρχο κ. Βύρα, τον Πρόεδρο του ΕΟΑΛ κ. Χατζηχαραλάμπους και τον Αντιδήμαρχο κ. Ιασωνίδη.
Κατά την εναρκτήρια ομιλία η δημοσιογράφος Γιώτα Δημητρίου, εκ μέρους των διοργανωτών, καλωσόρισε τους προσκεκλημένους και ανέφερε:
“Σκοπός του Φεστιβάλ; Να φέρει τους κατοίκους πιο κοντά. Να αγαπήσουμε ξανά τη γειτονιά μας, τον γείτονά μας, να θυμηθούμε το χθες και να χτίσουμε μαζί το αύριο. Και γιατί όχι; Μέσα από την ενότητα και τη συνεργασία μας, να καταφέρουμε τις αλλαγές που όλοι θέλουμε να δούμε στη γειτονιά μας.
Επίσης σκοπός είναι να φέρουμε κόσμο στη γειτονιά, επισκέπτες, να την μάθουν”.
Το Φεστιβάλ περιείχε:
- Σπιτικό φαγητό από τις νοικοκυρές της γειτονιάς που το πρόσφεραν δωρεάν σε όλους τους επισκέπτες,
- Σουβλάκια και πίτσα προσφορά των διοργανωτών,
- Μουσική με τον DJ Ανδρέα Ανδρέου,
- Έκθεση φωτογραφίας με εικόνες από το χθες της γειτονιάς, σε επιμέλεια της γνωστής φωτογράφου και Προδρομίτισσας Ντίνας Χάλλα,
- Περίπτερα με βιβλία που έχουν εκδώσει κάτοικοι ή απόφοιτοι του Δημοτικού Σχολείου Προδρόμου,
- Χειροτεχνίες Προδρομιτισσών,
- Δημιουργίες της δεκάχρονης Έρικας και της 8χρονης Δέσποινας, οι οποίες αποφάσισαν μόνες τους να λάβουν μέρος και να διαθέσουν τα έσοδα για φιλανθρωπικό σκοπό,
- Συλλεκτικές φανέλες του Φεστιβάλ προς πώληση 5 ευρώ, με τα έσοδα να δίνονται επίσης για φιλανθρωπία (τα ποσά που θα μαζευτούν και που θα δοθούν θα δημοσιευτούν στα δύο τοπικά ΜΜΕ που είναι και οι χορηγοί επικοινωνίας του Φεστιβάλ, SkalaTimes και City of Larnaka).
Στο φεστιβάλ υπήρχε επίσης περίπτερο με κάρτες επιχειρήσεων ανθρώπων του Προδρόμου.
Επίσης στο Φεστιβάλ υπήρχε Pop up μπαράκι από τον διακεκριμένο bartender Παναγιώτη Σάββα (Sunmoon Hospitality) πρώην κάτοικο Προδρόμου, ο οποίος σέρβιρε μοναδικά κοκτέιλ εμπνευσμένα από τη σημερινή μέρα κι όχι μόνο, καθώς και μπύρες και αναψυκτικά. Επίσης, hot dogs και burgers από το Potbelly, παγωτό, λουκουμάδες, μπισκότα από το Sweet O’ Clock by Georgia που βρίσκεται στη γειτονιά και γλυκά από τον διάσημο “κύριο Γλυκή”, επίσης της γειτονιάς.
Στο τέρμα της Έκτωρος (δρόμος μπροστά από το σχολείο), στο θεατρικό εργαστήρι της Μόνικας Μελέκη, ανέβηκε ένα θεατρικό δρώμενο με δύο κείμενα, με ενιαίο τίτλο «Η Γειτονιά μου», διάρκειας περίπου 15 λεπτών. Το ένα κείμενο ήταν γραμμένο από τη δημοσιογράφο Γιώτα Δημητρίου και το άλλο απόσπασμα από την Ελληνίδα Μαίρη Πετρούλια.
Στην οδό Λεοντίου Μαχαιρά, στην αυλή του Φροντιστηρίου Μαρίας Τουμάζου (εκεί όπου παλιά βρισκόταν ο ΑΠΟΠ Προδρόμου), υπήρχε τόμπολα με πολλά πλούσια δώρα, ενώ μπροστά από το φροντιστήριο υπήρχαν φουσκωτά παιχνίδια δωρεάν για παιδιά.
Όπως τόνισε η παρουσιάστρια στην εναρκτήρια ομιλία: το Φεστιβάλ δεν θα μπορούσε να πραγματοποιηθεί χωρίς τη στήριξη του Δήμου Λάρνακας, του ΕΟΑΛ και φυσικά των χορηγών.
Επίσης, το Φεστιβάλ Γειτονιάς Προδρόμου είχε τη στήριξη του Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Ποίησης Λάρνακας, που ανέλαβε την οργάνωση για τον πάγκο με τα βιβλία που έχουν εκδώσει κάτοικοι της περιοχής ή απόφοιτοι του Δημοτικού Προδρόμου.
Όπως τονίστηκε από τους διοργανωτές/κατοίκους: “Σίγουρα υπήρξαν λάθη και παραλείψεις, κάναμε όμως το καλύτερο που μπορούσαμε με τα δεδομένα που είχαμε. Ευελπιστούμε πως το Φεστιβάλ θα καθιερωθεί και χρόνο με τον χρόνο θα γίνεται όλο και καλύτερο”.
Η εκδήλωση έκλεισε με ένα μήνυμα:
“Όσο υπάρχουν αυλές με γιασεμιά στις γειτονιές, σαν εδώ, η αυλή της Τούλας, θα υπάρχει ελπίδα”.
Το Φεστιβάλ έγινε με τη στήριξη του Δήμου Λάρνακας και το ΕΟΑΛ

The first Prodromos Neighborhood Festival was held yesterday with great success, organized by former and current residents of Prodromos.
The event was honored by the presence of: Larnaca MPs Prodromos Alambritis (DISY), Andreas Pasiourtides (AKEL), Sotiris Ioannou (ELAM), Christos Orphanides (DIKO), the Mayor of Larnaca Andreas Vyras, the President of EOAL Angelos Hadjicharalambous, the Deputy Mayor of Larnaca Iasonas Iasonides, the District Secretary of DISY Larnaca Theologos Manolis, the District Secretary of AKEL Larnaca Chrystalla Antoniou, the District Secretary of DIKO Larnaca Dinos Skeparnidis, Larnaca Municipal Councilors, the Social Worker of the Municipality of Larnaca, Kostas Mannouris and Maria Papadopoulou of Larnaka 2030, well-known artists and entrepreneurs, former and current residents of Prodromos, as well as visitors from other areas.
The festival began with the “Ideas Café,” where Prodromos residents presented problems and suggestions to city officials who were present: MPs Alambritis, Pasiourtides, and Orphanides, the President of EOAL Mr. Hadjicharalambous, and the Deputy Mayor Mr. Iasonides. The issues were recorded and will be submitted in writing to the local authorities, while a detailed report with the problems raised will be published in SkalaTimes.
This was followed by short greetings from Mayor Mr. Vyras, the President of EOAL Mr. Hadjicharalambous, and Deputy Mayor Mr. Iasonides.
During the opening speech, journalist Yiota Dimitriou, on behalf of the organizers, welcomed the guests and stated:
“The purpose of the Festival? To bring residents closer together. To love again our neighborhood, our neighbor, to remember the past and build the future together. And why not? Through our unity and cooperation, to achieve the changes we all want to see in our neighborhood.
Another purpose is to bring people to the neighborhood, visitors, to get to know it.”
The Festival included:
- Homemade food from the neighborhood housewives, offered free to all visitors,
- Souvlakia and pizza offered by the organizers,
- Music by DJ Andreas Andreou,
- A photo exhibition with images from the neighborhood’s past, curated by well-known photographer and Prodromos native Dina Challa,
- Stalls with books published by residents or graduates of the Prodromos Primary School,
- Handicrafts by women of Prodromos,
- Creations by ten-year-old Erika and eight-year-old Despina, who decided on their own to participate and donate the proceeds to charity,
- Collectible Festival t-shirts on sale for 5 euros, with proceeds also going to charity (the amounts collected and donated will be published in the two local media outlets that are communication sponsors of the Festival, SkalaTimes and City of Larnaka).
The festival also featured a stall with business cards from Prodromos residents.
There was also a Pop-up bar by the distinguished bartender Panayiotis Savva (Sunmoon Hospitality) former resident of Prodromos, who served unique cocktails inspired by the day and beyond, as well as beers and soft drinks. In addition, hot dogs and burgers from Potbelly, ice cream, loukoumades, cookies from Sweet O’ Clock by Georgia located in the neighborhood, and desserts from the famous “Mr. Glyki,” also of the neighborhood.
At the end of Ektoros Street (the road in front of the school), at the theater workshop of Monika Meleki, a theatrical performance took place under the common title “My Neighborhood,” lasting about 15 minutes. One text was written by journalist Yiota Dimitriou and the other was an excerpt by the Greek author Mary Petroulia.
On Leontios Machairas Street, in the courtyard of Maria Toumazou’s Tutorial School (where the APOPP Prodromos used to be located), there was a tombola with many valuable prizes, while in front of the tutorial school there were inflatable games free for children.
As the presenter highlighted in the opening speech: the Festival could not have been held without the support of the Municipality of Larnaca, EOAL, and of course the sponsors.
The Prodromos Neighborhood Festival also had the support of the Larnaca International Poetry Festival, which took charge of organizing the bookstall featuring books published by local residents or graduates of the Prodromos Primary School.
As emphasized by the organizers/residents: “Surely, there were mistakes and omissions, but we did the best we could with the resources we had. We hope that the Festival will become established and, year after year, will become even better.”
The event closed with a message:
“As long as there are courtyards with jasmine in neighborhoods, like here, in Toula’s courtyard, there will be hope.”
