Της Μαρίας Αυγορίτου (Βιβλιοθηκάριος Λυκείου Αραδίππου)
Η 14 Φεβρουαρίου γιορτάζεται διεθνώς η Library Lovers’ Day (Ημέρα Φίλων των Βιβλιοθηκών).
Η ημέρα αυτή τιμά:
τις βιβλιοθήκες
τους βιβλιοθηκονόμους
τους αναγνώστες και φίλους του βιβλίου
και έχει στόχο να αναδείξει τον ρόλο των βιβλιοθηκών στην κοινωνία!!!
Οι βιβλιοθηκονόμοι δεν αντικαθίστανται από εργαλεία . Αντίθετα, σε όλο τον κόσμο συμβαίνει το εξής:
οι άνθρωποι πνίγονται στην πληροφορία
δεν ξέρουν τι είναι αξιόπιστο
δεν έχουν κριτική αξιολόγηση πηγών και
χρειάζονται καθοδήγηση.
Και εκεί μπαίνει ο βιβλιοθηκονόμος — όχι απλώς ως «φύλακας βιβλίων», αλλά ως: ο τελευταίος πραγματικός οδηγός πληροφορίας.
Σε πολλές σύγχρονες βιβλιοθήκες:
μαθαίνουν στους πολίτες πώς να αξιολογούν AI και internet.
Βοηθούν μαθητές να κάνουν έρευνα σωστά
στηρίζουν ηλικιωμένους στην ψηφιακή εποχή
Δημιουργούν κοινότητα (λέσχες ανάγνωσης, δράσεις κ.λπ.)
Καμία μηχανή δεν μπορεί να αντικαταστήσει την ανθρώπινη επαφή, όπως :
τη σχέση με τον αναγνώστη, τους μετανάστες και ανέργους
τη γνώση της τοπικής κοινωνίας
το ανθρώπινο «διάβασμα» προς τον ανθρώπο.
Και τέλος
Οι καλοί βιβλιοθηκονόμοι είναι πιο απαραίτητοι τώρα από ποτέ!!!

On February 14th, Library Lovers’ Day is celebrated internationally.
This day honors:
- libraries
- librarians
- readers and friends of books
and aims to highlight the role of libraries in society!
Librarians cannot be replaced by tools. On the contrary, all over the world the following is happening:
- people are drowning in information
- they don’t know what is reliable
- they lack critical evaluation of sources, and
- they need guidance.
This is where the librarian comes in — not merely as a “guardian of books,” but as the last true information guide.
In many modern libraries:
- citizens are taught how to evaluate AI and the internet
- students are helped to conduct proper research
- elderly people are supported in the digital age
- communities are built (reading clubs, events, etc.)
No machine can replace human interaction, such as:
- the relationship with readers, immigrants, and unemployed people
- knowledge of the local community
- the human “reading” of a person.
And finally, good librarians are more essential now than ever!
