Μείωση κατά 67% κατέγραψαν οι παράτυπες αφίξεις μεταναστών το διάστημα 1/1/2025–31/8/2025, σε σύγκριση με την αντίστοιχη περσινή περίοδο, ενώ οι αναχωρήσεις υπηκόων τρίτων χωρών σημείωσαν αύξηση 21%, όπως δήλωσε ο Υφυπουργός Μετανάστευσης και Διεθνούς Προστασίας, Δρ. Νικόλας Ιωαννίδης, σε συνάντηση με τον Πρόεδρο, την Αντιπρόεδρο και μέλη του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου Κιβισιλίου.
Σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση που μεταδίδει το Γραφείο Τύπου και Πληροφοριών (ΓΤΠ), ο κ. Ιωαννίδης υπογράμμισε ότι η αυστηρή μεταναστευτική πολιτική της Κυβέρνησης «δεν ανέχεται φαινόμενα παραβατικής συμπεριφοράς από αλλοδαπούς».
Η συνάντηση πραγματοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του κύκλου επαφών του Υφυπουργού με τους Προέδρους κοινοτήτων που γειτνιάζουν με την περιοχή “Λίμνες” στη Μενόγεια, όπου βρίσκονται υπό κατασκευή το Κέντρο Φιλοξενίας αιτούντων διεθνή προστασία και το Προαναχωρησιακό Κέντρο (τύπου ΧΩΚΑΜ/κρατητήρια) για πρόσωπα που πρόκειται να επαναπατριστούν.
Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο «ο Υφυπουργός είχε συναντηθεί στις 21 Μαρτίου με τον Πρόεδρο του Συμπλέγματος Νοτίως Σταυροβουνίου και Κοινοτάρχη Μενόγειας, στις 9 Απριλίου με τον Πρόεδρο του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου Κοφίνου, στις 27 Μαΐου με τον Πρόεδρο του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου Μαζωτού, στις 16 Ιουλίου με τον Πρόεδρο του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου Αλεθρικού και στις 8 Σεπτεμβρίου με τον Πρόεδρο του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου Αλαμινού».
Προστίθεται ότι «εντός των επόμενων εβδομάδων θα ακολουθήσουν συναντήσεις του Υφυπουργού με τις υπόλοιπες Κοινότητες του Συμπλέγματος, ενώ με την ολοκλήρωση του κύκλου επαφών το Υφυπουργείο Μετανάστευσης και Διεθνούς Προστασίας προτίθεται να διατηρήσει ανοικτούς διαύλους επικοινωνίας με όλες τις Κοινότητες του Συμπλέγματος».
Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση, «στόχος αυτών των συναντήσεων είναι να δημιουργηθεί ένας ουσιαστικός διάλογος με τις τοπικές κοινότητες, ώστε να ενημερωθούν πλήρως για τη σημασία των έργων, που βρίσκονται σε εξέλιξη στην περιοχή των «Λιμνών». Παράλληλα, οι κοινότητες έχουν την ευκαιρία να καταθέσουν τις προτάσεις τους για τη διαχείριση ζητημάτων, που ενδέχεται να προκύψουν κατά την υλοποίηση των έργων».
Κατά τη συνάντηση, «ο Υφυπουργός παρουσίασε λεπτομερώς τη στρατηγική σημασία των έργων που χρηματοδοτούνται από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ). Εξήγησε επίσης πως αυτά τα έργα θα συμβάλουν καθοριστικά στην ενίσχυση της μεταναστευτικής πολιτικής που εφαρμόζει με συνέπεια το Υφυπουργείο Μετανάστευσης και Διεθνούς Προστασίας, αλλά και η Κυβέρνηση συνολικά».
Ο Υφυπουργός ενημέρωσε επίσης «τους εκπροσώπους του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου Κιβισιλίου για την τρέχουσα κατάσταση του μεταναστευτικού ζητήματος, υπογραμμίζοντας την κατακόρυφη μείωση των παράνομων αφίξεων και των νέων αιτήσεων ασύλου, καθώς και την αύξηση των αναχωρήσεων και των επιστροφών».
Συγκεκριμένα, «αναφέρθηκε στη μείωση κατά 67% στις παράνομες αφίξεις κατά την περίοδο 1/1/2025 μέχρι 31/8/2025, σε σχέση με την αντίστοιχη περσινή περίοδο, στην αύξηση κατά 21% στις αναχωρήσεις υπηκόων τρίτων χωρών, αλλά και στη μείωση των εκκρεμουσών αιτήσεων ασύλου κατά 33% από τη δημιουργία του Υφυπουργείου μέχρι σήμερα».
Σημείωσε ακόμα ότι «η αυστηρή μεταναστευτική πολιτική της κυβέρνησης δεν ανέχεται φαινόμενα παραβατικής συμπεριφοράς από αλλοδαπούς. Εξήγησε επίσης ότι με τη λειτουργία των νέων Κέντρων στην περιοχή των Λιμνών η αστυνόμευση θα ενισχυθεί σημαντικά, αυξάνοντας έτσι το αίσθημα ασφάλειας των κατοίκων».
Ολοκληρώνοντας, ο Υφυπουργός «επανέλαβε τη δέσμευση του Υφυπουργείου για στενή συνεργασία με τις τοπικές κοινότητες. Σκοπός αυτής της συνεργασίας είναι η αποτελεσματική διαχείριση τυχόν προβλημάτων που μπορεί να προκύψουν, εξασφαλίζοντας την ομαλή εξέλιξη των έργων και την απρόσκοπτη λειτουργία του Κέντρου Φιλοξενίας και του Προαναχωρησιακού Κέντρου, με γνώμονα πάντα το συμφέρον των κατοίκων».
Σημειώνεται ότι παρών στη συνάντηση ήταν και ο Διευθυντής του γραφείου του Υφυπουργού Δρ. Λάμπρος Καούλλας.

Ioannidis: 67% decrease in irregular arrivals – “Deviant behaviors are not tolerated”
Irregular migrant arrivals recorded a 67% decrease during the period 1/1/2025–31/8/2025 compared to the same period last year, while the departures of third-country nationals increased by 21%, according to the Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Dr. Nikolas Ioannidis, during a meeting with the President, Vice-President, and members of the Kivisili Community Council.
According to a press release issued by the Press and Information Office (PIO), Mr. Ioannidis stressed that the Government’s strict migration policy “does not tolerate deviant behaviors from foreigners.”
The meeting took place within the framework of the Deputy Minister’s series of contacts with the Presidents of communities neighboring the “Limnes” area in Menogeia, where a Reception Center for asylum seekers and a Pre-Departure Center (detention-type) for persons to be repatriated are under construction.
In this context, “the Deputy Minister had previously met on March 21 with the President of the Southern Stavrovouni Cluster and the Community Leader of Menogeia, on April 9 with the President of the Kofinou Community Council, on May 27 with the President of the Mazotos Community Council, on July 16 with the President of the Alethriko Community Council, and on September 8 with the President of the Alaminos Community Council.”
It is further noted that “in the coming weeks, the Deputy Minister will continue meetings with the remaining Communities of the Cluster, while upon completion of this cycle of contacts, the Ministry of Migration and International Protection intends to maintain open channels of communication with all the Communities of the Cluster.”
According to the announcement, “the goal of these meetings is to establish a substantive dialogue with the local communities, ensuring that they are fully informed about the significance of the projects currently underway in the ‘Limnes’ area. At the same time, the communities have the opportunity to submit their proposals for managing issues that may arise during the implementation of the projects.”
During the meeting, “the Deputy Minister presented in detail the strategic importance of the projects funded by the European Union (EU). He also explained how these projects will decisively contribute to strengthening the migration policy consistently implemented by the Ministry of Migration and International Protection, as well as by the Government as a whole.”
The Deputy Minister also informed “the representatives of the Kivisili Community Council about the current state of the migration issue, emphasizing the sharp decrease in irregular arrivals and new asylum applications, as well as the increase in departures and returns.”
Specifically, “he referred to the 67% decrease in irregular arrivals during the period 1/1/2025 to 31/8/2025 compared to the corresponding period last year, the 21% increase in departures of third-country nationals, and the 33% decrease in pending asylum applications since the establishment of the Ministry.”
He also noted that “the Government’s strict migration policy does not tolerate deviant behaviors from foreigners. He further explained that with the operation of the new Centers in the Limnes area, policing will be significantly strengthened, thereby enhancing the residents’ sense of security.”
In conclusion, the Deputy Minister “reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to close cooperation with local communities. The purpose of this cooperation is the effective management of any problems that may arise, ensuring the smooth progress of the projects and the uninterrupted operation of both the Reception Center and the Pre-Departure Center, always with the residents’ interests in mind.”
It is noted that the Deputy Minister’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Lambros Kaoullas, was also present at the meeting.
