Η πιο φαντασμαγορική μουσική γιορτή της Ευρώπης ετοιμάζεται ξανά να ανάψει τα φώτα της σκηνής και να ενώσει εκατομμύρια θεατές σε κάθε γωνιά του κόσμου. Ο Διαγωνισμός Τραγουδιού Eurovision 2026, η 70ή επετειακή διοργάνωση, υπόσχεται να χαρίσει αξέχαστες στιγμές, μουσικές εκπλήξεις και, φυσικά, πολλές συγκινήσεις. Το μεγάλο ραντεβού δίνεται φέτος στη μαγευτική Βιέννη της Αυστρίας, με την αντίστροφη μέτρηση να έχει ήδη ξεκινήσει.
Οι δύο ημιτελικοί θα πραγματοποιηθούν στις 12 και 14 Μαΐου, ενώ ο μεγάλος τελικός θα διεξαχθεί στις 16 Μαΐου 2026 στο εντυπωσιακό Wiener Stadthalle, έναν χώρο χωρητικότητας άνω των 16 χιλιάδων θεατών. Η διοργάνωση τελεί υπό την ευθύνη της Ευρωπαϊκής Ραδιοτηλεοπτικής Ένωσης (EBU) και του αυστριακού ραδιοτηλεοπτικού φορέα ORF, μετά τη νίκη της Αυστρίας το 2025 με το τραγούδι «Wasted Love» του JJ.
Η Βιέννη δεν είναι άγνωστη στη Eurovision, αφού φιλοξενεί τον θεσμό για τρίτη φορά, μετά το 1967 και το 2015, επιβεβαιώνοντας τον τίτλο της ως μία από τις πιο μουσικές πρωτεύουσες της Ευρώπης. Παράλληλα, αποτελεί μόλις τη δεύτερη φορά που ο διαγωνισμός διοργανώνεται σε πρωτεύουσα χώρας τα τελευταία χρόνια, γεγονός που ενισχύει ακόμη περισσότερο τη διεθνή του αίγλη.
Πέρα από τη σκηνή του διαγωνισμού, η πόλη ετοιμάζει ένα ολοκληρωμένο φεστιβαλικό σκηνικό. Η Rathausplatz θα μετατραπεί σε Eurovision Village, έναν ζωντανό χώρο γεμάτο συναυλίες, προβολές και πολιτιστικά δρώμενα, ενώ το ιστορικό Δημαρχείο της Βιέννης θα φιλοξενήσει το EuroClub, τα επίσημα after-parties αλλά και την τελετή έναρξης με το καθιερωμένο Τιρκουάζ Χαλί στις 10 Μαΐου, όπου καλλιτέχνες και αποστολές θα συστηθούν στο κοινό και τα διεθνή ΜΜΕ.
Παρόλο που η Eurovision παραμένει μια γιορτή της μουσικής, η φετινή διοργάνωση δεν στερείται και πολιτικών προεκτάσεων. Συνολικά 35 χώρες θα συμμετάσχουν, αριθμός μειωμένος σε σχέση με προηγούμενες χρονιές και ο μικρότερος από το 2003. Η Ιρλανδία, η Ισλανδία, η Ισπανία, η Ολλανδία και η Σλοβενία αποφάσισαν να απέχουν, εκφράζοντας διαμαρτυρία για τη συμμετοχή του Ισραήλ εξαιτίας του πολέμου στη Γάζα. Από την άλλη πλευρά, η Βουλγαρία, η Μολδαβία και η Ρουμανία επιστρέφουν δυναμικά στη σκηνή, δίνοντας νέο ενδιαφέρον στον διαγωνισμό.
Μέσα σε αυτό το πολύχρωμο μουσικό μωσαϊκό, η Κύπρος ετοιμάζεται να αφήσει το δικό της ξεχωριστό αποτύπωμα. Τη χώρα μας θα εκπροσωπήσει η Αντιγόνη Baxton με το τραγούδι «JALLA», ένα κομμάτι που ήδη έχει αρχίσει να ξεσηκώνει τους Eurofans σε όλο τον κόσμο. Το τραγούδι παρουσιάστηκε πρόσφατα μαζί με το βίντεο κλιπ του στο YouTube και μέσα σε λίγες ώρες κατάφερε να κερδίσει τις εντυπώσεις, δημιουργώντας αισιοδοξία και θετικές προσδοκίες για την πορεία της κυπριακής συμμετοχής.
Η Antigoni Baxton υπογράφει το «JALLA» μαζί με μια δυνατή δημιουργική ομάδα που αποτελείται από τους Connor Mullally Knight, Trey Qua, Claydee Lupa και Paris Kalpos. Το τραγούδι συνδυάζει σύγχρονους ρυθμούς, δυναμικό ήχο και μια εξωστρεφή σκηνική αισθητική που αναμένεται να ξεχωρίσει στη σκηνή της Βιέννης.
Η Κύπρος θα εμφανιστεί στο δεύτερο μισό του Β’ Ημιτελικού στις 14 Μαΐου, μια θέση που συχνά θεωρείται ευνοϊκή, καθώς τα τραγούδια που παρουσιάζονται προς το τέλος μένουν πιο εύκολα στη μνήμη του κοινού και των επιτροπών. Οι φίλοι της Eurovision ήδη ανυπομονούν να δουν την κυπριακή αποστολή επί σκηνής, με την προσδοκία ότι το «JALLA» θα μεταφέρει τον παλμό, τη ζεστασιά και τη μουσική εξωστρέφεια της Μεσογείου στο ευρωπαϊκό κοινό.
Η Eurovision άλλωστε δεν είναι απλώς ένας διαγωνισμός τραγουδιού. Είναι μια γιορτή πολιτισμών, μια σκηνή όπου η μουσική λειτουργεί ως κοινή γλώσσα και ένα γεγονός που κάθε χρόνο μας θυμίζει πως, παρά τις διαφορές, η τέχνη μπορεί να μας φέρει πιο κοντά. Και φέτος, όλα δείχνουν πως η Βιέννη θα φιλοξενήσει μια διοργάνωση γεμάτη ρυθμό, ενέργεια και εκπλήξεις.
Το μόνο που μένει είναι να ετοιμάσουμε σημαίες, να δυναμώσουμε την ένταση και να στηρίξουμε την κυπριακή συμμετοχή. Γιατί η Eurovision είναι πάνω απ’ όλα μια εμπειρία που τη ζούμε μαζί και το «JALLA» φαίνεται έτοιμο να μας παρασύρει στον δικό του ξεσηκωτικό ρυθμό.
Eurovision 2026: A Date in Vienna with Rhythm, Glamour and Cypriot “JALLA” Energy
Europe’s most spectacular music celebration is once again preparing to light up the stage and unite millions of viewers across the globe. The Eurovision Song Contest 2026, the 70th anniversary edition of the competition, promises unforgettable moments, musical surprises and, of course, plenty of emotion. This year’s grand rendezvous takes place in the enchanting city of Vienna, Austria, with the countdown already underway.
The two semi-finals will be held on 12 and 14 May, while the grand final is scheduled for 16 May 2026 at the impressive Wiener Stadthalle, a venue with a capacity of over 16,000 spectators. The contest is organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Austrian broadcaster ORF, following Austria’s victory in 2025 with the song “Wasted Love” performed by JJ.
Vienna is no stranger to Eurovision, as it will be hosting the contest for the third time, after 1967 and 2015, confirming its status as one of Europe’s most musical capitals. At the same time, it marks only the second occasion in recent years that the competition is being held in a country’s capital, further enhancing its international prestige.
Beyond the main stage, the city is preparing a full festival experience. Rathausplatz will be transformed into the Eurovision Village, a vibrant space filled with concerts, live screenings and cultural events, while Vienna’s historic City Hall will host the EuroClub, the official after-parties, private performances by participating artists, as well as the opening ceremony and the traditional Turquoise Carpet on 10 May. There, artists and delegations will be introduced to accredited media and fans from around the world.
Although Eurovision remains a celebration of music, this year’s edition also carries political undertones. A total of 35 countries will take part, a reduced number compared to previous years and the lowest since 2003. Ireland, Iceland, Spain, the Netherlands and Slovenia have chosen not to participate, protesting Israel’s involvement in the contest due to the war in Gaza. On the other hand, Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania are making a dynamic return after years of absence, adding renewed interest to the competition.
Within this colourful musical mosaic, Cyprus is preparing to leave its own distinctive mark. The country will be represented by Antigoni Baxton with the song “JALLA”, a track that has already begun to excite Eurofans worldwide. The song was recently released along with its official music video on YouTube and, within just a few hours, managed to win over audiences, creating optimism and positive expectations for Cyprus’s journey in the contest.
Antigoni Baxton co-wrote “JALLA” with a strong creative team consisting of Connor Mullally Knight, Trey Qua, Claydee Lupa and Paris Kalpos. The song blends contemporary rhythms, a powerful sound and an extroverted stage aesthetic that is expected to stand out on the Vienna stage.
Cyprus will perform in the second half of the Second Semi-Final on 14 May, a position often considered favourable, as songs performed later tend to stay longer in the minds of both the audience and the juries. Eurovision fans are already eagerly anticipating the Cypriot performance, hoping that “JALLA” will convey the pulse, warmth and musical extroversion of the Mediterranean to the European audience.
After all, Eurovision is not just a song contest. It is a celebration of cultures, a stage where music serves as a universal language, and an event that reminds us year after year that, despite our differences, art has the power to bring us closer together. And this year, all signs point to Vienna hosting a competition full of rhythm, energy and surprises.
All that remains is to get the flags ready, turn up the volume and support the Cypriot entry. Because Eurovision is, above all, an experience we share together—and “JALLA” seems ready to sweep us away with its own uplifting rhythm.
