Ανατροπή σε ό,τι αφορά την γνωστή υπόθεση του βιβλίου «Ελένη η πόρνη, ένας άγγελος στην κόλαση» που οδηγήθηκε στα δικαστήρια την περασμένη δεκαετία.
Η αγωγή της Ελένης Σωκράτους κατά της συγγραφέως του γνωστού βιβλίου που μεταφέρθηκε στη μικρή οθόνη, Αννίτας Νικολάου, είχε απορριφθεί από το Επαρχιακό Δικαστήριο Λευκωσίας κατά το 2016.
Χθες, όμως, το Ανώτατο Δικαστήριο (δευτεροβάθμια δικαιοδοσία) με απόφασή του δικαίωσε την κ. Σωκράτους. Στη βάση της ετυμηγορίας του, έκρινε πως το πρωτόδικο δικαστήριο είχε εξετάσει την αγωγή της σε λανθασμένη βάση, καταλήγοντας πως υπήρξε παρέμβαση στην ιδιωτική ζωή της παραπονούμενης, επιδικάζοντας αποζημιώσεις €25.000.

A major reversal has occurred in the well-known case of the book “Eleni the Whore: An Angel in Hell”, which was taken to court in the previous decade.
The lawsuit filed by Eleni Sokratous against the author of the well-known book that was later adapted for television, Annita Nikolaou, had been dismissed by the Nicosia District Court in 2016.
Yesterday, however, the Supreme Court (second-instance jurisdiction) issued a ruling in favor of Ms. Sokratous. Based on its judgment, the Court found that the court of first instance had examined the lawsuit on an incorrect basis, concluding that there had been an interference with the complainant’s private life, and awarded €25,000 in damages.
