Η Πρόεδρος της Βουλής δηλώνει ότι η Επιτροπή Υγείας θα παρακολουθεί την κατάσταση και θα ασκήσει κοινοβουλευτικό έλεγχο, με έμφαση στα ΤΕΠ και στις ελλείψεις.
Υπάρχουν προβλήματα στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Λάρνακας και η αρμόδια Επιτροπή της Βουλής θα παρακολουθεί το θέμα και θα ασκηθεί ο απαιτούμενος κοινοβουλευτικός έλεγχος, δήλωσε η Πρόεδρος της Βουλής Αννίτα Δημητρίου.
Σε δηλώσεις της μετά από συνάντηση που είχε με αντιπροσωπεία της Επιτροπή Δημόσιας Υγείας του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου (SANT) στη Βουλή και κληθείσα να σχολιάσει την κατάσταση στο Νοσοκομείο Λάρνακας, η κ. Δημητρίου τόνισε ότι «στόχος μας είναι να αναδείξουμε τα προβλήματα τα οποία απασχολούν την καθημερινότητα των πολιτών».
Διαβεβαίωσε ότι η αρμόδια Επιτροπή Υγείας της Βουλής θα παρακολουθεί το θέμα και θα ασκηθεί ο απαιτούμενος κοινοβουλευτικός έλεγχος.
Σημείωσε ότι «στόχος δεν είναι ποτέ η ωραιοποίηση και δεν θα πρέπει την ανάδειξη ζητημάτων προβλημάτων να την εκλαμβάνουμε ως αρνητική κριτική, αλλά ως έναν τρόπο για να γινόμαστε όλοι καλύτεροι. Υπάρχουν προβλήματα ναι, υπάρχουν αδυναμίες ναι, χωρίς να παραγνωρίζουμε τα θετικά».
Υπάρχει πρόβλημα, σημείωσε, προσθέτοντας ότι αν και υπάρχει βελτίωση, δεν είναι αρκετή. «Ειδικά για το τμήμα επειγόντων περιστατικών, αλλά και για άλλες ελλείψεις, που παρατηρούνται ειδικότερα στο νοσοκομείο της Λάρνακας», είπε.
Η κ. Δημητρίου ανέφερε παράλληλα ότι είναι ο ρόλος της Επιτροπής Υγείας της Βουλής αλλά και ο ρόλος των δημοσιογράφων να μπορέσουν να συμβάλουν στην ανάδειξη και την αντιμετώπιση τέτοιων ζητημάτων.

Annita Demetriou: “There are problems” at Larnaca General Hospital
The President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, stated that the competent Parliamentary Committee will monitor the situation and exercise parliamentary oversight, with emphasis on the Accident and Emergency Department and existing shortages.
There are problems at Larnaca General Hospital, and the relevant House Committee will follow the issue closely and exercise the necessary parliamentary control, House President Annita Demetriou said.
In statements following a meeting at the House of Representatives with a delegation from the European Parliament’s Public Health Committee (SANT), and when asked to comment on the situation at Larnaca Hospital, Ms Demetriou stressed that “our goal is to highlight the problems that affect citizens’ daily lives.”
She assured that the competent House Health Committee will monitor the matter and that the required parliamentary oversight will be exercised.
She noted that “the aim is never to embellish the situation, and raising problematic issues should not be perceived as negative criticism, but as a way for all of us to become better. Yes, there are problems, yes, there are weaknesses, without disregarding the positive aspects.”
“There is a problem,” she said, adding that although there has been improvement, it is not enough. “Especially regarding the Accident and Emergency Department, but also other shortages observed particularly at Larnaca Hospital,” she added.
Ms Demetriou also stated that it is the role of the House Health Committee, as well as of journalists, to help bring such issues to light and contribute to addressing them.
