Υπάρχει μια Λάρνακα του φωτός, της τέχνης, της δημιουργίας, του πάθους. Μια Λάρνακα με τους πιο σπουδαίους καλλιτέχνες. Το γνωρίζω καλά, εδώ και χρόνια.
Όταν εργαζόμουν στο ΔΙΑ πριν από περίπου 15 χρόνια, είχα δημιουργήσει το Larnaca Contemporary Art και κάλεσα φίλους μου Σκαλιώτες καλλιτέχνες (Σαβίνο, Κωνσταντίνο, Έφη Αθηνά, Άντρη και άλλους) και σχηματίσαμε τότε -για κάποιο χρονικό διάστημα- μια ομάδα που ήθελε να αλλάξει πολιτιστικά την πόλη.
Μέσα από το επάγγελμά μου προσπαθούσα πάντα να προβάλλω τους καλλιτέχνες της πόλης μας, αφενός επειδή αγαπώ τις τέχνες και πιστεύω πως έχουν τη δύναμη να αλλάξουν τον κόσμο, και αφετέρου επειδή αγαπώ τους καλλιτέχνες της πόλης μου και πιστεύω πως η Λάρνακα έχει τους πιο ταλαντούχους. (Το συζητούσαμε και χτες με τον Μάρκο και τον Κώστα, στον γάμο ενός ταλαντούχου μουσικού Σκαλιώτη).
Ναι, αλήθεια, η Λάρνακα έχει ταλεντάρες καλλιτέχνες. Και αυτή τη Λάρνακα την αγαπώ πολύ και με ενθουσιάζει. Αυτή τη Λάρνακα, κύριε Δήμαρχε, οφείλει να την αναγνωρίσει λίγο περισσότερο και ο Δήμος. Να λέει ένα δημόσιο «μπράβο» σε Σκαλιώτες καλλιτέχνες που μας κάνουν περήφανους στο εξωτερικό, που ανεβάζουν παραστάσεις σε εθνικά θέατρα του εξωτερικού, που τα ντοκιμαντέρ τους προβάλλονται σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ και διαπρέπουν.
Ναι, υπάρχει αυτή η Λάρνακα των ταλαντούχων καλλιτεχνών.
Και υπάρχει και η Λάρνακα των καλλιτεχνών και άλλων (σαν την υποφαινόμενη), που προσπαθούν μέσα από δράσεις και εκδηλώσεις να βάλουν ένα λιθαράκι για κάτι όμορφο στην πόλη μας.
Σήμερα είδα το πρόγραμμα του Φεστιβάλ Πολιτισμού στον Άη Γιάννη, (δείτε το εδώ) το γνωστό Μαντομαχαλάρτ, που δημιουργήθηκε πέρσι για πρώτη φορά και συνεχίζει ως θεσμός και φέτος, για δεύτερη συνεχόμενη χρονιά.
Πρόκειται για ένα πρόγραμμα όπως αυτά που βλέπουμε στο εξωτερικό: τόσο ποικίλο, τόσο μοναδικό και τόσο ποιοτικό που μπορεί κάλλιστα να πει κανείς: Η ΛΑΡΝΑΚΑ ΣΤΑ ΚΑΛΥΤΕΡΑ ΤΗΣ!

Αυτό το φεστιβάλ δεν πρέπει να το χάσουμε με τίποτα. Πρέπει να είμαστε εκεί, γιατί αυτή είναι η όμορφη Λάρνακα των όμορφων ανθρώπων που θέλουν να βάλουν τις δικές τους πινελιές για μια πόλη με πολιτιστικό αέρα υψηλού επιπέδου.
Τούτη η Λάρνακα που μας χαροποιεί: η Λάρνακα του Μαντομαχαλάρτ, της Μπιενάλε, (Μαρία μου, θα γράψω αύριο για τη Μπιενάλε Λάρνακας μετά το Press Conference και τον καφέ -και τα σαντουϊτσάκια που υποσχέθηκες lol) και άλλων όμορφων πολιτιστικών δράσεων!
Αυτή η Λάρνακα!
Η Λάρνακα στα καλύτερά της!
Δείτε την, απολαύστε την, πείτε «μπράβο» στους συντελεστές, στους οραματιστές, στους δημιουργούς. Γράψτε μια ανάρτηση με ένα ΜΠΡΑΒΟ, χαρείτε αυτή τη Λάρνακα και ας ατενίσουμε το μέλλον με ελπίδα, όπως μας μαθαίνει η τέχνη.
Ας ατενίσουμε το μέλλον με χαμόγελο, πιστεύοντας ότι αυτή η πόλη μπορεί να γίνει καλύτερη για τα παιδιά μας!
Μπορεί, ρε παιδκιά, μπορεί!

There is a Larnaca of light, of art, of creativity, of passion. A Larnaca with the finest artists. I have known it well for many years.
About 15 years ago, when I was working at DIAS, I founded Larnaca Contemporary Art and invited my friends—local Skaliotis artists (Savino, Konstantinos, Effie Athena, Andri, and others). For a time, we formed a group that aimed to culturally transform the city.
Through my profession, I have always tried to highlight the artists of our city—both because I love the arts and believe they have the power to change the world, and because I love the artists of my city and firmly believe that Larnaca is home to the most talented. (I was just discussing this yesterday with Markos and Kostas at the wedding of a talented local musician.)
Yes, it’s true: Larnaca has incredibly talented artists. And this Larnaca is one I love deeply and find endlessly inspiring. This is the Larnaca, Mr. Mayor, that the Municipality should recognize a bit more. To publicly say “well done” to Skaliotis artists who make us proud abroad, who stage performances in national theaters overseas, whose documentaries are showcased at international festivals, and who excel in their fields.
Yes, this Larnaca of talented artists exists.
And there is also the Larnaca of artists and others (like myself), who try, through events and initiatives, to contribute their own little part to something beautiful in our city.
Today, I looked at the program for the Cultural Festival at Agios Yiannis—check it out [here]—the renowned Mandomachalarte, which was launched last year and continues this year for its second consecutive season.
It is a program on par with what we see abroad: diverse, unique, and of such high quality that one could rightly say: LARNACA AT ITS BEST!

This festival is not to be missed. We need to be there, because this is the beautiful Larnaca of wonderful people who want to leave their own artistic touch on a city with a high-level cultural atmosphere.
This is the Larnaca that delights us: the Larnaca of Mandomachalarte, the Biennale (Maria, I’ll write about the Larnaca Biennale tomorrow after the press conference and the coffee—and the sandwiches you promised, lol)—and many other beautiful cultural initiatives!
This is Larnaca!
Larnaca at its best!
See it, enjoy it, say “well done” to the contributors, the visionaries, the creators. Write a post with a BIG CONGRATULATIONS, celebrate this Larnaca, and let’s look to the future with hope, as art teaches us.
Let’s look to the future with a smile, believing that this city can become better for our children!
